I like place names and this name is a double place name (both literary and real). The actual [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] is in [name_u]California[/name_u], which has a special place in my heart. I can also appreciate that it has mythical significance with [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and is a part of the Celtic mythology.
This name really caught my attention as it is the name of an album by one of my favorite artists ([name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u] - [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]… but if you had to listen to one song I’d youtube Lullaby).
I figure [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] mightn’t be too harsh a name as it could ride the coattails of the [name_f]Ava[/name_f] craze… Thereby giving my daughter a popular nn option should she like popular names or also the option of a less popular nn [name_u]Loni[/name_u] should she appreciate unique names.
So what do you think of [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]?
If you dislike it I’m fine with that and I’d rather hear an honest answer now than later.
I love [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]. I love the mythology behind it and I love the sound. It’s cool that you have music and a real life place that connects personally to you. That makes it even better for you. [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] has a few nicknames, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] (if she likes popular names), [name_u]Loni[/name_u] (if she doesn’t or is tomboyish), [name_m]Von[/name_m] (again if she’s tomboyish), [name_f]Vana[/name_f] (Sort of s aweet, sexy thing), [name_f]Ava[/name_f] (ah-va if she wants to be different but close to popular) and so on.
Anyway, it’s a beautiful, versatile name. I love it.
I actually am quite fond of it. I think it has that on-trend sound without being too trendy and/or common. Actually, I saw this name recently on a girl when we had our high school swim finals earlier this year. I say go for it!
I love [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]! I don’t think it’s too out-there these days, but it’s still fairly rare. I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Avalon[/name_f]!
I like the sound of [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] but all the ones I’ve meet in real life have come from very uneducated, somewhat trashy families, so that’s basically ruined the name for me.
Thanks everyone I like the name I was just wondering whether it was too much Arthurian legend and not enough name.
I mean I really like that it has mythological ties, I was just wondering if it should stay in [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]'s realm and not be a name.
