What does NB think of the name [name_f]Ave[/name_f]? Pronounced ah-vay, like in ‘[name_f]Ave[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u].’ I like the sound of it and the look of it and I think it could be a cool middle, but is it usable?
Thinking a 3+ syllable name with [name_f]Ave[/name_f] as a middle, such as…
I really like it! I think it’s a nice spin on [name_f]Ava[/name_f], which has been becoming more popular and overused. However, I do see some potential issues with it looking like the street name/maybe pronunciation issues. I think it’s a super cute middle name, definitely usable.
I think it would work better as a first to avoid the street name issue [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] ave and [name_f]Illyria[/name_f] ave are BEAUTIFUL but they do look somewhat Avenue-esque. [name_f]Ave[/name_f] [name_f]Illyria[/name_f] would be great!
Ooh, I really like the sound of it! I can see possible issues w/ pronunciation and/or looking like avenue, but I think as a middle you would get the benefits without really having to deal w/ those drawbacks. Then again, I guess using it as a middle maybe makes the combo look more like a street name–but I still think it works! I think picking something that’s clearly not a place name or a surname for the first would help.
I love how it looks. Very clean and simple, but I actually think I’d slightly prefer it pronounced ‘ay-v’.
I dont think it looks too ‘street-esque’, and [name_f]Illyria[/name_f] [name_f]Ave[/name_f] is so beautiful.
At first glance I got the street name vibes, but I do like the pronunciation with these names.
Maybe if there’s an alternate spelling? Perhaps Avay. Like [name_m]Daveed[/name_m] Digs. He spells his name phonetically so it gets pronounced the way he wants.
But also as a middle name, it is only used when you want it to be. So she will have the chance to introduce herself with the correct pronunciation.
Barely usable due to pronunciation issues (ayve like the first syllable of [name_f]Ava[/name_f], ahve, ay-vee, ah-vee, uh-vay) and the avenue thing. The sound is ok. I also don’t think it pairs well with a first name that ends with an a, like your examples, since the sounds run together.
Because the stress is on the first syllable, I also don’t think it flows very well as a mn. But as a fn, it then takes on its meaning like in [name_f]Ave[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u], ‘hail’, so Hail [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f], etc.
So those are my thoughts. [name_f]Do[/name_f] with them what you will. I’m not really for or against it.
