It is not an original name, but despite that, it’s a great one. It’s on my name list

It may not be original, but it’s a nice name! I may be prejudiced because it is my best friend’s name, but even before we became best friends, when I first met her, I thought: “What a nice name…” According to Nameberry, [name]Avery[/name] means “ruler of the elves.” That is one nice meaning!!
Maybe you can explain to your friend that it is not original (it is number #38 on the 2008 US popularity chart). Is its “originality” the ONLY thing she likes about the name?

I can only state the obvious - that the name is certainly not original - but your friend is more than entitled to like the name! If she likes it only for its apparent originality, then she may look elsewhere for her names…
