Thoughts on the name, [name]Ayla[/name] for a little girl? [name]How[/name] would you pronounce it? What middle names would you use? [name]Do[/name] you think it ages well? Overall opinion? Thanks!
[name]One[/name] of my best friends in middle school was named [name]Ayla[/name]. I have seen a few baby girls on Facebook named [name]Ayla[/name], I think it’s really pretty. I’ve only heard it pronounced just as it looks, Eh-la, but I supposed it could be pronounced like eye-la (although that’s more like [name]Isla[/name], isn’t it?)
For middle name
[name]Ayla[/name] [name]Christene[/name]
[name]Ayla[/name] [name]Danielle[/name]
[name]Ayla[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Ayla[/name] [name]Jeanette[/name]
[name]Ayla[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Ayla[/name] [name]Kathleen[/name]
I don’t know how it’s pronounced in other languages, but in Turkish it’s pronounced eye-luh (same as [name]Isla[/name]). Personally, I really like the name. Not sure which middle names to suggest, but I do think something longer sounds best, such as [name]Ayla[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name].
I really like this one. An acquaintance has a little girl named [name]Ayla[/name] who is about 3 years old. They pronounce the “ay” as in hay.
This is how I say it. I quite like it pronounced like this.
I’d pronounce it just as it sounds, Ay (rhyming with [name]May[/name], [name]Kay[/name], [name]Day[/name])-luh. I can see the appeal in [name]Ayla[/name] but it seems trendy because of the ‘y’ and its similar sound to [name]Ava[/name]. I think it sounds childish and won’t age that well.
[name]Ayla[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] was my first thought.
That is my first name! I have always loved my name since I was a little girl. I pronounce it as A-LAH. My middle name is [name]Brynn[/name] if that helps.
It’s actually really cute (and I’m not usually very fond of untraditional names).
I pronounce it as most people pronounce [name]Isla[/name], eye-lah (however, I don’t pronounce [name]Isla[/name] like that, I pronounce it IS-lah).
I would say Ay-lah, just like [name]Kayla[/name] or [name]Layla[/name] without the first letter. It’s okay, I don’t mind it, but it looks trendy to me in the ‘drop the first letter of a common name’ way that also brought us [name]Addison[/name] (from [name]Madison[/name]) and [name]Adeline[/name]/[name]Adelyn[/name] (from [name]Madeline[/name]/[name]Madelyn[/name]).
[name]Addison[/name] was a surname already and [name]Adeline[/name] was already a first name O_o They’re not just randomly made up.
[name]Ayla[/name]'s not made up either, just saying that their popularity rode on the coattails of [name]Madeline[/name] and [name]Madison[/name].
I love the name [name]Ayla[/name], its on my list also!!
It’s pronounced Aye-luh.
There was a girl on american idol six or seven years ago named [name]Ayla[/name]. i think she pronounced it like [name]Kayla[/name] without the K. So thats how I always think of it. I think its a pretty name.
My friend has a niece named [name]Ayla[/name]. It’s cute… not really my style, but it’s not bad or anything. They pronounce it AY-la (like [name]Kayla[/name] without the K), but I like the Turkish version, too.
I would assume that [name]Ayla[/name] is pronounced just like [name]Isla[/name]. I think it’s pretty, but pronunciation could be an issue, given the variety of responses on this thread so far.
[name]Ayla[/name] is the heroine of The [name]Earth[/name]'s Children (The Clan of the Cave [name]Bear[/name], et. al) series. I never knew how to pn it when I was reading them ages ago, but I called her “A-la” (rhymes with [name]Kayla[/name]).
