Azalea

What is your take on [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]? [name_u]Love[/name_u] it, like it, hate it?

I was trying to convince my husband that since he likes [name_f]Zila[/name_f] that he must also like the name [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] (which failed, lmao) and he said “it sounds like that flower name…what is it? [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]?” which he loved  So, I don’t love [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], but I definitely don’t hate it!

What would your preferred nn choice be if you had to pick one? I don’t think [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] calls for a nn but I like to have a few in my back pocket. Also, [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is too much, right? Any MN ideas?

Thanks!

Not a fan of [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] and many of the flower/nature names.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. I think it’s a beautiful flower and a beautiful sounding/looking name. [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is intriguing, wearable, and pretty. I imagine she would get tons of compliments it!

For me, the most intuitive nickname is “Zae” because when I say “[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]” and shorten it in my mind, it automatically goes to Zae. I think that’s a pretty cool nickname.

I think [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is actually really lovely. Obviously it makes me imagine a snow-frosted azalea flower in winter, and that’s a gorgeous image in my mind. I think any consonant-heavy one or two syllable name could work as a middle with [name_f]Azalea[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] might be a bit much, but I like the imagery a lot! [name_f]Lea[/name_f] seems like the obvious nickname to me, and I like the suggestion of Zae as a nickname.

Other potential nicknames (not a huge fan of these options tbh but they could work)-
Zaylie/Zalie/Zaylee
[name_u]Lee[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]!! It’s my second favorite girl name, and it has been for years. My prefered nn is [name_u]Aza[/name_u]! Zae, [name_m]Zaley[/name_m] (Zaylie), [name_u]Lee[/name_u], and [name_f]Lea[/name_f] also work, as previous posters have said.

[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] isn’t my favorite, but it could work.

[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is my favourite girls’ name ever. (It’s not my real name, in case you’re wondering!) I do use it on social media though and have gotten quite a few compliments on it. I like that it’s feminine and frilly but feels strong and substantial too, and that while it’s a modern name with little history of use as a name, the sounds make it seem like it could be/fit in with more historical names. If you get a sense from my signature of the kinds of names I usually like, and [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] doesn’t feel out of place at all, to me anyways.

I wouldn’t do [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u], sorry. [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Wynn[/name_u] has a similar sound, though [name_u]Winter[/name_u] feels more feminine than [name_u]Wynn[/name_u]. [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] has a nice ring to it. I like pairing it with fairly unusual names that feel grounded without being too heavy.

I really like [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. It’s one underused beautiful flower name and I’d love to see more of it. My favourite nicknames would be [name_f]Zelie[/name_f] or [name_f]Lea[/name_f], but in your case you can always all her [name_f]Zila[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], but we won’t be using it. Unrelated reason, but a couple we know named their daughter [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] a year ago and they call her “Zaylee”, although I don’t know how they spell it…I just spelled it how you would say it. Another relative of theirs calls her Z or [name_f]Lea[/name_f]. The baby’s dad sometimes calls her Azzy. I think any of those work.

I actually like [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]! It has beautiful imagery. The [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] that I know has the mn of [name_f]Anne[/name_f], after a grandmother. I think one syllable middle names work best.

I think [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] would go with your boys names. It is unique but still recognisable. I like it.
Nickname wise you could go with [name_f]Lea[/name_f], [name_u]Aza[/name_u], [name_f]Zee[/name_f], Zaylie or [name_f]Zala[/name_f] (close to [name_f]Zila[/name_f]). You could even go with [name_f]Zila[/name_f] as a stretch if you really loved it.
I don’t really like [name_u]Winter[/name_u] as a middle name but don’t really know enough about your style to suggest something else. I would go short and spunky. [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]?

I prefer Azelie. Either way, I like [name_f]Zelie[/name_f] as a nn.

My feelings towards [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] are pretty neutral (it’s kind of on par with [name_f]Athena[/name_f] in my mind). I know a little girl named Azaela and it fits her wonderfully, though. I agree it goes well with your boys names. [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] has a nice sound to it. I don’t really care for any of the nicknames, but if I had to pick I’d say [name_f]Lea[/name_f].

I think it’s very pretty! I would use the nickname [name_u]Aza[/name_u] or [name_f]Lea[/name_f], I think both of those are so pretty! I think she would work so well with [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]!

I like [name_f]Azalea[/name_f], mainly because I think the nn Zalie is too fricking cute. I don’t like when first and middle names are both word names, so [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is too much for me. I’d use something more conventional to make [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] seem more grounded, like [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], etc.

I’m a HUGE fan of nature/flower names (as you can tell from my signature :joy:). And I absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] (although I spell it [name_f]Azaleia[/name_f])! It could definitely work on a child, and it’s a name that aged well to me. However, [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is too much. Personally, I’ve always preferred to balance out my names by pairing them with an “actual name” in the middle spot.
For example, on my list has been
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]/[name_f]Maeve[/name_f],
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f],
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f],
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f],
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].
