I guess it’s finally time to announce, here. I’ve just been waiting until a better confirmation came through. I’m 14+3, today, due [name_u]January[/name_u] 10. The m/s is finally gone, which means the heartburn is moving in. I can feel baby moving around, which is always reassuring. We finally told our older two girls, but haven’t told anyone else. Our families never have anything nice to say about our family size, so we don’t announce to them. We’ve recently moved 5 hours away from everyone, so it’ll be super easy to hide it this time around. I don’t plan on announcing until baby is born. It’ll be so nice to have a pregnancy without rude comments from them. I think we’ll tell the rest of the kids after my level II in [name_u]August[/name_u].
Congrats and welcome to you, @andsuch! I will add you to the list
Due [name_u]January[/name_u] 11th and it’s confirmed–twins!
I have been so nervous about miscarrying (I’ve had 2 previously), but entering the second trimester has caused some of those nerves to subside. We announced to friends & family today, so I figured it was time to officially announce it here in the NB threads. Most of the morning sickness has subsided, but the heat still makes me a bit nauseated (it doesn’t help that my job doesn’t have air conditioning).
Finding out I’m expecting multiples is still blowing my mind to be honest. :o
Hey [name_f]Katinka[/name_f],
My updated due date is Feb 22nd.
[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] andsuch and al.vy!
@al.vy Twins, amazing! Congratulations.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! I’m very surprised to be joining another [name_u]January[/name_u]-[name_u]March[/name_u] board, but I got a positive test a few days ago – #2 is due [name_u]March[/name_u] 26 according to LMP, but my first was born at 42 weeks so I will be telling everyone [name_f]April[/name_f] just in case. [name_f]Happy[/name_f] to hang out here for the duration though. Maybe we won’t go far past the due date this time!
I’m just 4 weeks today and have my first appointment next week. I’m feeling fine so far, just a bit tired (but that might have to do with having a two year old!). Last time I had a very uneventful pregnancy save for pretty bad morning sickness, so hoping for a similar outcome this time – maybe sans the morning sickness, but I’m not very hopeful about that.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Hello and welcome, @northernlights! I hope this pregnancy goes as smoothly as the last.
Joining! Due 18th Feb 2018. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] I don’t get a valentines baby, because I already have one! Haha!
I have had HG in all of my pregnancies (severe vomiting and dehydration), and am just coming out of it now. 9+3.
Thank you [name_f]Katinka[/name_f]! [name_f]Welcome[/name_f], @whistlemytune!
I ended up having the day off today so switched my appointment to today instead and got all booked in. I was also given a prescription for nausea medication in case I need it, which is great. I’m really bad with needles and nearly fainted during the blood test – ugh! Usually I have my husband there but he was off taking care of the toddler. We don’t want her to know/tell people yet so we told her I was going to a “special shop” instead of the doctor’s. For those of you with older children, when did you tell them about another pregnancy? I have a feeling it will come out if I get as sick this time as I did last time. I’m wary in case of miscarriage – not just explaining it to her, but because I work at her daycare and she doesn’t forget a thing and would tell everyone. I can see it now: “Mummy vomit, mummy see the doctor, I be a big sister!” Wouldn’t take my coworkers long to figure it out. Haha!
Anyway, if everything continues to go well my next appointment won’t be until the 12 week scan. I was also given the option of the [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] test – I’m tempted, but not sure! Has anyone here had it / decided not to get it done? It was sort of dismissed with my last pregnancy as “You don’t really need it” and I think the same is true now. At the same time, sneak peek at the sex is tempting and the added confirmation of nothing wrong. Then again, I’ve already said how great I am with blood tests.
We had an early scan at 7+6, so told our other two children after that. I was in hospital with HG, and can’t really hide the vomiting and nausea etc. This time, we’ve decided to just tell people early. We’ll do a proper FB announcement after the 12wk scan.
Well, I took another test yesterday morning and our 5th baby is on the way! It still feels unreal but in a really good way
Based on conception date we are 5 weeks along, with baby due around the 22nd of [name_u]March[/name_u]. Congratulations to us all!
So much activity! [name_f]Welcome[/name_f] and congratulations to all!
@northernlights- We just had the MaterniT21 test, but I was sure I wanted it from the beginning. I’m an older first time mom and the road to get here wasn’t easy; honestly, I kept waiting for something to be wrong. The test gave me some much-needed reassurance and the go-ahead to really celebrate this pregnancy… and start building a wardrobe of adorable little girl clothes.
CONGRATULATIONS al.vy!! That is so exciting. [name_m]How[/name_m] are you feeling? Are the symptoms double with a multiple pregnancy?
I have to thank everyone on here who has mentioned sea bands. I had never heard of them before but I went and got them and they really do work!! Sometimes they just take the edge off, and yesterday I had every other symptom, just no nausea. Fascinating!!
We will be 9 weeks tomorrow. I keep waiting for something to be wrong and it won’t feel totally real until I see my obgyn in a couple of weeks. But so far, everything is going well. Migraine today so I’m taking it slow.
Congratulations and welcome, @whistlemytune and @thomasina!
Dating scan today put me at 9+6, with a due date of 19th Feb! I’m glad to finally have a date, though it may change by a day or two at the actual 12w scan in [name_u]August[/name_u]. [name_u]Baby[/name_u] looked happy and healthy at this early stage
[name_m]How[/name_m] are all of you ladies doing?
Thank you @katinka, I’m glad the scan went well and baby is thriving!
These days I’ve been doing a lot of what I call summer cleaning. We just got rid of the last boxes from the move to the new house and my husband and I have been making time to get on with some DIY projects around the house. This weekend we changed the kitchen backsplash into something more colorful and cheery, I painted our living room walls yesterday (windows all open) and today I sat down on the sewing machine and made some cushions for the sofas in the living room with some fabrics I got a million years ago and were stored away. This summer [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and [name_f]Sabina[/name_f] have practically been living with their cousins at my [name_m]BIL[/name_m]'s beach house and so it’s been pretty easy and quiet with just [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_m]Bruno[/name_m]. We took a walk to the park today with [name_f]Polly[/name_f] (our dog) on tow and so this summer has been very pleasant, although passing way too fast for my liking. [name_u]August[/name_u] 1st [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] turns one, I can hardly believe it! We’re having his little party here at home with some close friends, family and kids and it’ll be fun. I decided to not do a theme and just go with a bunch of colors and a polka dotted cake courtesy of my aunt.
[name_m]Ah[/name_m], I also managed to schedule my dating scan for [name_u]August[/name_u] 7th, so very anxious for that!
Some symptoms (like nausea and lower back pain) were double and absolutely brutal
But overall it hasn’t been to unbearable! [name_m]Just[/name_m] trying to enjoy being pregnant ![]()
Congrats al.vy! (And congrats to all other newcomers!)
[name_m]Just[/name_m] had my first dr appt today. All is well with this nugget so far; saw the heartbeat—hooray! Dated me just about where I’d guessed I’d be, a little over 8 weeks.
My calcium is high again (hyperparathyroidism; recurring for the third time, but that’s a whole other story) so I’ll need to find an endocrinologist who can monitor me throughout the pregnancy. I was very fortunate that everything turned out fine during my pregnancy w/ [name_m]Zach[/name_m]; I was hyperpara then, too, but my levels didn’t go too high and he was perfectly healthy. I’m glad my nausea isn’t too hideous at the moment. It comes and goes, but hopefully I am past the worst of it? Wishful thinking, since I’m just over 8 weeks.
Trying to stay zen about the baby’s sex. Not sure if we’re finding out ahead of time this time. Obviously we’ll love another boy but it would be so delightful to have another girl. I’m not holding my breath. We seem to make a lot of boys.
@thomasina - Our due dates are close - I’m due the 26th. Congrats!
@dotdraper - Thanks for your input! I’m glad you were able to get reassurance from the test. I will definitely be looking into this one.
@katinka - So glad your scan went well!
@mill - I hope your levels stay low. I can see why you might want another girl to even things out a bit.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] your kids have a preference?
Not much happening over here! I’m now just over 5 weeks. I have been hungry all the time and I am SO bloated I wonder how people don’t know I’m pregnant, I feel like I’m already showing (which is crazy - but at the same time, my least stretchy pair of jeans is not fitting right now. I didn’t have to stop wearing jeans until almost 24 weeks last time!). This time last pregnancy I was already vomiting so I’m a little nervous that I’m not feeling sick. I’ve actually been craving red meat and couldn’t stand to be in the same room as cooking meat last time. Because of this we are both convinced it’s a boy – though I’ve also been reading that breastfeeding can help keep morning sickness at bay, and I’m (still) nursing occasionally so maybe that’s what it is.
This whole week has been a bit weird honestly – I just don’t “feel” pregnant like I did last time. I’ve barely had a chance to think about it. I feel a bit guilty, like the poor thing is already being overshadowed by its big sister. Haha!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,
I’ve been away for a while and lots has happened, too many newcomers to welcome individually but happy to see you all! [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to hear the seabands have been useful to a few people. The other thing I’ve found that helps is gentle exercise - I’ve downloaded a yoga app on my phone and do it in my living room. It’s quite counter-intuitive to exercise when you want to barf but honestly the only time I don’t feel utterly awful is during my daily half hour of yoga. It’s like it magically clears the icky feeling for a while.
I’m 11+1 and counting down the days to the 2nd trimester. I know the sickness won’t necessarily stop immediately at 13 weeks but at the moment I just need a goal to hold onto! The last couple of weeks have been really horrible.
On the positive side we saw the baby briefly yesterday - had my booking-in appointment with the midwife and they couldn’t hear anything on the doppler so she used a handheld ultrasound. The picture was tiny and she only did it long enough to confirm the heart was beating but it was still lovely to get that reassurance. And it was waving its tiny hand at us! The first trimester screen is next week so we’ll get a better picture then.
