I would love to be added to this group! Due date is [name_u]December[/name_u] 12th.
Congrats and welcome!
Yikes, don’t even get me started on the nausea… I had a horrible time with it while expecting [name_f]Viola[/name_f]. It was so awful that I couldn’t eat and had to spend 3 days in hospital, due to weight loss and malnutrition. It’s funny though, because with Z it went considerably easy and didn’t last too long. I was still able to eat stuff like chicken soup, rice, potatoes, pasta (without cheese and meats) and salads without dressing. My body has not been appreciating any red meats or spicy and well seasoned foods, which for me is a bummer. Also, the treats that I love baking, I can’t even catch a whif, so kiddos will have to wait a while for their cookies. Basically the food at this point is tasteless, although I couldn’t help but indulge in a bite of lemon merengue my aunt made the other day… And I was surprised that went well.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys, sorry I haven’t posted in awhile. Last weekend we decided to tell our parents. My parents were coming up for my mom’s birthday on [name_m]Saturday[/name_m] so we figured it was a good time and then husband called his parents [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] night. I’m currently at 8 weeks (so we think). I ended up telling work since I had called in sick earlier in the week and decided they should know what is up. Figured my risk of miscarriage isn’t too high since I’m low risk… but we won’t be telling the rest of the world until we for sure know the due date! Hoping to get some answers at my [name_u]June[/name_u] 6 appointment, but since there won’t be an ultrasound, guessing I might have to wait another week or so…
So far I’ve only had nausea really bad twice. For the most part I just feel tired. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] everyone else is doing well!
@lailanotlilah Congrats and welcome to the group! Sorry to hear that your nausea has been bad, but hopefully you’re nearing it’s end.
@moondreams Isn’t it exciting to get to tell people the good news! I hope you’re appointment goes well next week. I ended up needed to take naps during the day, but making sure you stay well hydrated and also snacking throughout the day helps keep your energy up.
DH and I finally settled on the name [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] for our baby girl and I love being able to call her by name! I’m a little worried because [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is already in the top 100 and now a new [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland movie is coming out so it might get even more popular. That said, we both love the name! My mom came up for the holiday weekend and we went out and bought a maternity dress for my brother’s wedding in [name_u]July[/name_u]. She even bought me 6 new maternity tops since all my old shirts are too tight/short and the only things that fit are loose gym type tee shirts that make me feel so unattractive. Now I can proudly display my growing bump and feel like a woman again haha! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] everyone else had a great weekend
@cyoung325, I’m so glad you’re feeling like a woman again! It’s such an empowering thing to look ourselves in the mirror and be happy about what we see! Also, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is a beautiful name and if I were you, I wouldn’t worry about popularity much.
The nausea and morning sickness are thankfully down to a minimum and I can finally eat the things I like, although in smaller amounts. Yesterday was [name_f]Viola[/name_f]'s birthday and we’re planning a small party here at home for her on [name_m]Saturday[/name_m], she loves dinosaurs so that will be the theme. On [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] we’re thinking about driving the kids to the science museum to see some bugs and bones… We’ll see.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,
I just got back from my 20 week ultrasound, and I’m feeling a little discombobulated. They found a white area on the baby’s heart that they are concerned about, so tomorrow I have to go in for a two hour appointment for a fetal echocardiogram. My doctor made it sound as though this is just out of an abundance of caution, but it is still pretty scary.
[name_u]Baby[/name_u] girl looked good otherwise. I had to take a pause halfway through the ultrasound to throw up (yep, that is still happening!) and when I came back she was wiggling so much that the tech really struggled to get the rest of the images. The little girl has a mind of her own.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] everybody else is doing well.
@lailanotlilah [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to hear that your nausea is letting up. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you’re having fun with your kids this weekend
@evergreengal That must be scary about the white spot, but if the doctor is hopeful that everything is just fine I think you should try not to worry too much. I loved seeing how active our baby girl was, but it was a bit frustrating that she didn’t really want to cooperate. At least it sounds like they were able to get all the pictures they needed for you.
Yesterday we went into Buybuybaby just to get an idea on prices and we walked out of the store with the bedding set I’ve been looking at online (it was on sale!) and we ordered a rocking chair and ottoman. I’m so happy to finally start getting things for our little girl. She also has been moving sooo much lately and I can actually feel it with my hand too. This week I’m lucky enough to have jury duty which I don’t love, but that means I won’t have to do it when [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is here. Time seems to be going by pretty quickly and I can’t believe we’re almost 23 weeks now!
I went in for the level 2 ultrasound-- that was an ordeal! Two hours long, most of which was spent taking images of the baby’s heart from every angle and looking at how the blood is flowing in all the vessels leading to and from the heart, and listening to all the little valves. I then spoke with a MFM specialist who told me that he is quite sure that the spot was a deposit of calcium in the muscle tissue of the left ventricle, that we did not have anything to worry about, and that the baby’s heart will be fine. I feel very relieved.
He did say that spots like that are seen a little bit more commonly in babies with Down Syndrome, but since we had a normal NT Scan and normal results on PGS, he said that was extremely unlikely-- in the 1 in thousands risk category. He offered an amniocentesis as the only way to be 100% sure, but I felt that the risks associated with that (1 in 300 risk of miscarriage) was just too high, especially given that he seemed very sure that everything was okay.
@evergreengal I’m so happy that your scan went well! It sounds like all is well with baby which is great news! I know that the risk for miscarriage with the amniocentesis is relatively low, but I agree with you that I would not take the risk especially since your other tests came back well. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you get to relax a bit now that that ordeal is over with.
@evergreengal… how scary! So glad the scan went well!
Nothing new to report here. I did have a good stretch of no nausea/vomiting but it seems to have returned. I"m counting down the days until the end of the school year (11!!!) so I can be home and relax!
I did feel some bubbles the other day which I’m pretty sure was Nugget. I haven’t felt them again, but that’s exactly what I felt with my daughter when I first started feeling movement. Feeling them move is the ONLY part of pregnancy I enjoy so I can’t wait until Nugget starts moving!
Having the hardest time narrowing down names. My surname and my need for a bilingual name (English/Spanish) is making things difficult. My last name begins and ends with A, so I’m trying to avoid names that end in A, but I also need a name that can be pronounced in English and Spanish and isn’t an old lady name among Spanish speakers. I prefer names that don’t change to the Spanish version (so I won’t use [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and call him [name_m]Alejandro[/name_m] for example… just a pet peeve of mine) I may have to drop the doesn’t-end-in-a requirement because the list is small.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all! I haven’t checked in for a while. My work has been so stressful that I’m having trouble enjoying my pregnancy. I have a new boss who I’m positive is targeting me. She’s either trying to get me to quit or laying the groundwork to fire me before I can take maternity leave. It’s incredibly frustrating and heartbreaking. I used to love my job!
To top it off, the hospital and clinic I was going to is closing and I have to find a new doctor!
Anyway, other than that, things are pretty ok. I had my 20w scan and things are looking good. She’s moving more and more.
I’m not sure we’re going to agree on a name we both love. He rejected every single name on my list!
I hope everyone is doing well! Some of us are half way there!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys, so it looks like my due date is [name_u]January[/name_u] 1! (had my first appointment yesterday and we got to hear the heartbeat!)
So I’ll be heading over to the other thread for now. I might pop back over here if the due date happens to change at the ultrasound, but I don’t get one till 18-20 weeks, and my OBGYN said she doesn’t change the due date unless it’s off by 5 days or more since they like to trust the body (she’s all for natural birth, love her!).
@[name_f]Rosey[/name_f] sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having at work. That’s really rubbish.
I’ve also not checked in for a while. I’ve made friends with two other women from my church and we are all expecting our first babies within 10 days of each other which is really nice. I do have a bit of bump envy as they are both showing very obviously and mine is only visible in tight clothes. My back pain has still been bad but I’ve started doing yoga which I think is starting to help.
We also decided on a name for our little lady:
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is a name we both like and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] are our grandmothers names.
I’m now starting my second trimester, well I did a few days ago. I have borrowed my friend’s doppler and can hear the baby’s heart beat very easily. It seems pretty strong to me. If the old wives tale is right about heart rate and what the gender is - it could be a boy. I obviously can’t wait to find out the gender; still have about a month until I can find out.
I’m still not feeling the best but hopefully i only have a week or 2 left of that fingers crossed.
Hey guys, just passing by to share that our first scan will be on [name_f]Monday[/name_f]. We hope to finally hear the heartbeat and get to see our little jelly bean! Fingers crossed!
My scan ended up being early this morning as my doctor had to reschedule last minute. All is fine with baby, about the size of a small lemon and we got to hear the heartbeat which was amazing. It’s a new doctor for me as my former OB/GYN retired, but we got along very well and I was only prescripted some vitamins and was ordered to go back with my morning walking (I’m just so lazy sometimes).
Thankfully the all-the-time sickness has ended!
This pregnancy is kicking my butt. It could be that I now have another child to look after but I am exhausted. My back and head constantly hurt. The vomiting has mostly stopped but I’m still nauseous and still taking Diclegis every day.
Sorry for the whine. I am wiped out. Another week of teaching left and I’m off for the summer. Hopefully I’ll feel better.
I’m sure you will sweetheart! Work, babies, home it all piles up and indeed take a toll on our bodies. Next week I’m off from work for the summer too. I hope your nausea gets better, mine thankfully has ended, although still not much of an appetite.
@dindlee - I hear you! Pregnancy is kicking my butt too!
I have mostly good days now (15 weeks) but usually [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] or Thursday I’m done. I’ve been going ot the gym about 3 times a week in the AM but lately even getting up a little early is a major struggle, but after work I am done. Clearly, today I am having a tough day. I feel exhausted and sick. urgh… when does that 2ns trimester boost show up?! (haha)
