Babies Due October, November, & December 2024

Thanks! Been doing it for 10 days now, 10 weeks left unless baby makes early appearances. While of course I wish he sticks as close to due date as possible, I also start to feel “done” being pregnant. :joy:

Oh that’s a sweet, fair deal indeed! Very nice of them. I bought some baby clothes since… a couple months back just because I couldn’t resist how cute they are. :no_mouth: bought and assembled all the big furnitures, too, but otherwise baby room is still a huge mess.

How long you guys plan to keep baby in your bedroom / straight to the nursery?

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] everyone is doing great and having a restful weekend!

@luneth I’m sorry that you’re having to make all those changes. [name_f]My[/name_f] coworker who was pregnant recently also had to change her diet and monitor blood sugars, and it made her more eager to be “done” too. [name_m]Just[/name_m] remember it’s temporary and you did nothing wrong to have this issue happen. Best of luck!

Things are getting busier over here… my baby shower with friends/family is next weekend, and the one with coworkers a few days after that. This week, I have my 30 week OB appointment, and my mom and I are going to a big baby/child consignment sale to look for good deals on some items I’m missing and don’t have on my registry. Hopefully we find everything on our list :crossed_fingers:t2:At home, we’ve assembled some of Finnegan’s furniture in my room.

To answer your question, he’s going to be sharing my room for the foreseeable future, but I don’t have an exact idea of when that’s going to end. [name_f]My[/name_f] house has space for a second bedroom but it’s on a different floor from my bedroom and that spot is kind of unfinished. Until now, I’ve used it as a storage area. So it’d have to be remodeled and I’d have to be comfortable with him being downstairs from me at night.

Also in the next few years I’m planning on moving towns, so we might just leave that space alone. [name_f]My[/name_f] family owns a house that has been rented out, but they’re going to let us move in and take over the mortgage. This house has multiple bedrooms and is one floor, so he definitely will have his own room then. Probably around age 2?

I am 33 weeks and very much ‘done’ with pregnancy :joy: I would like baby to stay in there for until it is properly safe for them to come out, but if they decided to come a bit before the due date that would be fine (I’m convinced I’m going to go late…). Any time from 37 weeks, when I count as full term and the medical staff wouldn’t be concerned, would be fine.

The NHS guidance is to have the baby in the room until they are at least 6 months old, so that’s the plan. They will have a cot in their own room which we’re planning to use for daytime naps etc.

Well, I had my 30 week appointment and apparently the bottom number of my blood pressure was high… my OB said it’s possible it was a one time high reading, but that we’re going to “watch it closely.”

Otherwise things are shaping up good, but I’ll admit her saying that has me stressed about my blood pressure now. I’m realllllly hoping it was a fluke and not the start of an issue. :sob:

We’ve been working on our nursery, actually brought in the last few pieces of big furniture today and worked on decorating. We have a bassinet set up in our room where he’ll sleep for the first months, but I wanted to get ahead on his room and I’m very happy with how it’s turning out. It went from a brown room with a lot of nicks and old damage to a very bright blue room.

Officially 37 weeks today! [name_f]My[/name_f] next OB appointment is tomorrow. Gestational diabetes has been ok diet-controlled so far, but I did have a couple of spikes yesterday so I’m glad to be talking to the OB soon.

Our apartment is too small for a nursery set up (plus we’re hoping to upgrade to at least a rental home in February). [name_f]Baby[/name_f] will have a bassinet in our room, and we have a second bassinet with a mesh zip up dome for downstairs (which is great because we have cats we want to keep out of the bassinet lol).

I officially have all of the newborn-3 months clothes washed and stored—thank youuuu Amazon for the over the door storage shelves that have saved tons of space—and have rearranged our spare bedroom a bit so that I can use it for middle of the night feeds & diaper changes without disturbing my fiance. [name_m]Just[/name_m] have to figure out a way to conveniently store changing items now so that we have them on both floors so we don’t have to go up & down the stairs more than necessary.

32+2 today, and this week is BUSY. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow, my 32 week appointment on [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f], and then an appointment to get set up with WIC on [name_m]Friday[/name_m]. [name_m]Saturday[/name_m] I have an all day work event & [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] is my official baby shower (my gymnastics team parents threw me a surprise shower last week & it was so sweet)!

I got super excited checking my registry because BOTH of the car seats I wanted have been purchased for us :sob: I had the even flo shyft dualride on the registry knowing it was too big of a ticket item for me to ever purchase it myself, but my fiancé’s mom & sister went in on it to purchase it and I’m so excited for that.

Having my last “quiet” week here. After three appointments last week, I’d also have three doctor appointments next week. Then move on to weekly visit (yep, a month sooner).

I had a smaller, early shower at the start of third trimester. At first I thought it might be too soon and unfortunately some people couldn’t make it, but now I’m glad cause apparently I was about to be distracted by a bunch of other things like this. :relieved:

@krikit glad to hear you’re doing well with the diet-controlled GD. I’m 6 weeks behind you and still struggling with the changes.

And wow, finally 37 weeks! Not that long anymore till the first baby in this group will be born. Good luck with everything.

@hvnewton aww happy to hear you got the stuffs you want from the registry. Over the door storage sounds like a smart idea!

@pacifica thanks, girl. I know it’s temporary, I just hope I don’t have to deal with it again in the future. It’s not guaranteed but still there’s a chance I will, which is frustrating.

Sounds like you have a pretty solid plan already. It’s definitely wiser to keep [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] in your bedroom for a bit longer in that case and have his own ready in the new house eventually.

@Maerad why are you convinced you’d be late? I used to think so too, but that’s because before ultrasound confirms my due date I thought it was going to be over a week later. Now I’m thinking I might go a bit “early” at 38/39 weeks instead. I guess we’ll see lol.

Our current plan is to keep baby in our bedroom for maybe 3 months. I’m totally open to the idea of keeping him there longer, but my husband isn’t a big fan lol, plus the space issue. We bought a crib (for his nursery) and gifted a pack n play with a bassinet on top of it at the baby shower (might use it in our room).

His nursery was previously a storage room and to make the conversion happens we had to move some stuffs and store them at family/friend’s. Obviously a temporary solution. We’ve been planning to get a bigger place, but that keeps getting postponed thanks to the fun housing market. Fingers crossed we could find the right house sometime next year. :crossed_fingers:

I’m just chiming in to sympathize with the BUSY sentiment. The last few weeks have been crazy for me, and next few will be too… honestly as weird as it sounds, this week not having much on the calendar makes me feel wrong. Like I need to be doing more somehow. :face_exhaling:

For now that’s looking like making an inventory of the things I got at Finnegan’s baby shower, and putting away his clothes in his dresser. They haven’t gone through the wash yet but I feel better “organizing” them by having them put away and separated by size/age.

Slowly but surely I’m watching through my online labor class videos. It’s good info but overwhelming in big doses.

Finally, I’m having so many body aches. My neck, shoulders, low back and wrists are constantly complaining. I am never comfortable these days and feel in constant need of heating pads or massage, lol

ETA: @Krikit you’re getting so close! I’m very excited to see the first babies from this group start to make their arrival

@luneth mostly I’m convinced I’ll be late because my mum was late with me and my sister and my MIL was late with her two, so I just sort of expect that both me and [name_f]Baby[/name_f] have “cook for longer” genetics. However, I am 34w4 and I am so very done with being pregnant that I will be trying all the old wives tales for triggering labour basically asap when I reach full term :joy:

I finish work in just over 2 weeks, we’re going away this weekend and then have a family wedding next weekend. And in between we’ve got a midwife home visit and meeting our health visitor (who will also come after birth to check in for the first few days/weeks). I feel like time is going really slowly and also incredibly fast.

We picked up a second hand crib for the baby’s room but the people who gave itnto us gave us the wrong screws so we haven’t been able to put it together yet (they have found the right ones, we just need to find time to pick them up). Other than that I need to wash all the 0-3month stuff and I’m starting to pack my hospital bag. Then we need to get in touch with the store that has our bedside crib (first 6 months), pram and car seat so we can work on getting those delivered. Mr M doesn’t see the point in having two changing areas because “we can just go upstairs” but I think he’ll change his tune quite quickly once the baby is here.

[name_f]My[/name_f] midwife told me to pack “a small amount” for this weekend away and the wedding next week just in case.

There’s just so much to sort and I’m no longer in the physical state to have the energy/ability to plough through it!

Had my 32 week appointment today and everything looks great! But since I have a history of blood clots (and the placenta is a vascular organ), I’ve been bumped to twice a week visits from here on out so that we can do NSTs and make sure baby is monitored and continues doing fine. I’ll also get my (probably) last ultrasound when I go back on [name_f]Monday[/name_f], and I’m so excited to see how big baby girl has gotten!

Also got put tentatively on the books for a c-section— so we’re looking at a [name_f]December[/name_f] 9th baby vs my due date of [name_f]December[/name_f] 14th. I told my doctor that if I go into labor before then, I’d like to try for a vaginal birth. But ultimately I’m so over being pregnant and with everything this pregnancy has held a c section feels safest.

I had my 38 week appointment today, and looks like I’m 50% effaced! I’m fully expecting to be late so it was good to hear that something’s happening. And over the weekend, we finally had our baby shower after some unexpected delays, and it was a lot of fun. There was a mixup at the bakery and we somehow ended up with a cake reading “Happy Birthday, Samuel.”

@Maerad I have a similar plan with two changing areas! We got a secondhand dresser with a changing top for the nursery, and a rolling changing table for downstairs.

@hvnewton I hope all goes well!

Hahaha what a great story to tell your baby one day! :joy::joy:

@Krikit that is so funny! The bakery was really doing some wishful thinking there :joy:

[name_f]Happy[/name_f] Halloween to those who celebrate! :jack_o_lantern: [name_f]Baby[/name_f] boy and I had our 32 week appointment today and all is going well. Very glad to report that my blood pressure was normal there and has been normal when I take it at home, too. :raised_hands: I did feel like it was a fluke that the reading was high last time, but confirmation helps me not to worry about my BP in general.

Mr. Spooky Scary Skeleton had a growth ultrasound today too, and it looks like his growth has leveled out to where he’s no longer measuring large and is now in the average size range ~48th%. His weight today was 4lbs, 4 oz! And after him being breech or transverse most of the last couple weeks, it looks like he has finally turned himself head down. Fingers crossed he stays put until it’s time!

In talking with my OB, I guess I’ve been having [name_m]Braxton[/name_m] Hicks for the past few weeks on and off and not realized. I really thought it was just growing pains? But from what I described, she feels they’re practice contractions instead. I know there’s a good bit left to go, but it’s wild to think my body is already gearing up for labor.

The only downer I have to report is that I’ve been having some anxiety around baby boy’s name choice. Have any of you felt similarly? From what I’m hearing so far, it’s normal to feel that way as baby’s arrival looms, but I feel bad that I’ve second-guessed the name I chose at all. I think I’ll keep it as the front runner, but might prepare a back-up option just in case this feeling sticks.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you are all doing well!

We haven’t totally settled and probably won’t until after our baby shower in [name_f]December[/name_f] (which is somehow next month! :scream: ) so that we don’t accidentally say it because I already catch myself wanting to be like “Baby _____” since it’s what we’re leaning toward.

But it’s totally not too late to change it. You have a little while to mull over motivations and sort out if this is just “omg-baby-is-getting-close” jitters or if it’s something you want. [name_m]Just[/name_m] remember that it’s YOUR body carrying and having this baby so you get to decide. If it’s what you’ve said, then fine. If it’s not, then that’s fine as well.

Best wishes! It’s gonna be okay!

Thanks for the reassurance, I appreciate it! I’m not sure if my worries are legit or not, but regardless I think it’s worth me tossing around other ideas to see how they make me feel. Maybe in doing so I’ll be able to tell if I truly want to pick something else or if it’s just nerves.

Yay for upcoming baby shower! Are you doing a certain theme for it?

It’s going to be a sort of [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] Storybook theme! It felt a bit weird to do anything other than [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] since it’s [name_f]December[/name_f] and our nursery is going to be all sorts of literary themed so it made sense!

Yeah, toss a few around and you don’t even need to make up your mind before he comes if you don’t want to!

Oh I love that! [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] is rich in those, from oldies to something like the Polar Express. Very cute! :christmas_tree:

I’ve managed to get a fairly bad cold and I am suffering. I can’t find any advice for pregnancy safe over the counter medicine to help, which is so frustrating. The home remedies + one pregnancy safe pain killer work fine during the day, but my sleep is even more interrupted because now I need to go to the bathroom and I need to wake up to take more pain killers / blow my nose / turn over because I’m struggling to breath due to congestion. I’m seeing the Health Visitor tomorrow (the person who will come and visit several times over the weeks/months after baby comes, the midwife comes 1-2 times in the immediate two weeks after as well, then it’s just the health visitor), really hoping they’ll have advice. But honestly most people just say that it’s tough and it’ll pass which is not at all what I want to hear!

36+1 and kicks have moved fully into just being uncomfortable for me. We ended up going to the assessment unit on [name_m]Friday[/name_m] evening because they movements were so frequent and they say that any change in pattern should be checked. I think I’m getting an extra scan this week because it’s possible baby is back-to-back with me rather than facing my back. Not necessarily concerning, but can lead to a longer/more painful labour so just needs verifying at least before we discuss potential options.

@pacifica I understand you, we’re very set on the first name but I do keep going back and forth on our boy middle name option - the name I like better vs the family name. Realistically, I think it will be the family name because that’s important to me and because it’s the one Mr M likes more. But still, it’s a source of anxiety.

I’ve only got 5 days of work left  and it’s mine and Mr M’s 3 year wedding anniversary this week (we’ve been together for 11 years total though). Finally got the pram and car seat, and we’re sorting out the bedside cot. It’s starting to feel like it’s coming together which is both cool and scary!

I hit 34 weeks yesterday… and baby girl decided that she’s had enough of living on the inside and it was time to make her great escape this morning (11:3/2024) via a c-section. We’ll do a birth announcement in that relevant thread once everything settles, but for now we’re just grateful that everything seems to be going pretty well so far.

I think that marks me as the first in this thread to deliver

here’s to hoping y’all’s babes keep cooking and don’t scare the bejeezus outta you the way mine did

Congratulations on meeting your little girl!

Are you ok following the c-section? Is she well? I assume you’re getting a lot of support from medical professionals and family! Wishing you and your family all the good things!
