Babies/Kids Halloween Costumes

For those who celebrate Halloween, have you decided what your babies are going as this year?

My son is almost four, so I don’t get a say anymore. This year, he wants to be a rocket ship, so that has been interesting to figure out how to make. I just made him a orange and red tutu for the flames (this is the most exciting part of a rocket, obviously) still figuring out the rest. It needs to be very easy to move around in, so I think I will just decorate a white hoodie like a rocket and call it good.

The first year, he was a rhinoceros. I just sewed a felt horn and ears to a gray hoodie. Then he was a fox the next year- cute fox face knitted hat, orange leggings and long sleeved t-shirt. I sewed a white fox belly on the shirt, made him a tail, and put black socks on his hands and feet. Last year, he wanted to be a “stop/go man” which is the person who holds the stop sign to direct cars through road construction. This was his dream job last year. We just got him a construction worker vest and hardhat and made him a stop/slow sign to carry.

I would love to hear all about your adorable baby Halloween costumes!

My daughter wanted to be [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Tiana[/name_f]. we bought her the dress and I made her a tiara. If her baby sister is here in time, she’ll be a frog, and if I’ve recovered enough from giving birth to dress up I’ll be Dr. Facilier.

Last year she was [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] mouse, and the year before she was a sheep.

[name_m]Liam[/name_m]'s going to be a pirate this year, and I’m trying to decide between a black cat or a ballerina for [name_f]Cate[/name_f]. Leaning toward the cat costume, because [name_f]Cate[/name_f] the [name_f]Cat[/name_f] is adorable and my sister’s son [name_m]Braden[/name_m], who is six months older than her, is going to be a tiger, so it would be cute for them both to have feline costumes.

[name_m]Seamus[/name_m] is going to be a Gryffindor wizard.
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] is going to be a weeping angel.
[name_f]Brigit[/name_f] is going to be [name_m]Pinky[/name_m] Pie.
I’m going to be [name_m]Bob[/name_m] [name_m]Ross[/name_m].

My big boys keep saying they want to be characters from Call of Duty. Not so cute, lol. Everyone else is undecided. We will probably hit up Goodwill and see what we see…

@megamuffin, [name_f]Cate[/name_f] the [name_f]Cat[/name_f] sounds SUPER cute.

@[name_f]Niamh[/name_f], [name_m]Bob[/name_m] [name_m]Ross[/name_m] idea is awesome. I want to steal that. And I am jealous that you have a [name_f]Brigit[/name_f] (I love that name but it doesn’t really work with our last name, plus we’re supposed to be done having kids.)

@tarynkay, those are amazingly creative! Can you make my kids’ costumes? Haha.

Such cute ideas so far! Tarynkay you are so creative! The tutu flames are a great idea!

We are going to my sisters house with my family for halloween. She lives in a busy neighborhood for trick or treating so we will have snacks and hand out candy to the kids. Should be fun!

Any ideas for my daughter?! She will be four months at that time. I want something easy and warm but still cute! All the kids costumes at the stores are still too big for her :-/

My daughter was 4 months her first Halloween. I put her in a black long sleeve onesie and black baby leggings, and glued cotton balls all over a short sleeve onesie, plus made black felt ears on a white baby skull cap and more cotton balls. I used eyeliner to color her nose black because I was afraid to put face paint on her! She looked really cute, only thing was I had to watch to make sure she didn’t pull any cotton off and put it in her mouth (I don’t think she’d be able to, but still).

A few weeks before went to a party, and she wore a green onesie and skirt with leggings and I had sewn the very hungry caterpillar face into a green baby hat, which was also very cute.

She also had a candy corn colored tutu fluffy skirt with a trick or treat shirt and big candy corn colored headband. She wore that on Halloween when I couldn’t watch her closely with her sheep costume

[name_m]How[/name_m] fun! My kids love that movie.

I wish I could sew but don’t have the equipment/space to do that stuff. We just buy costumes. We live in an area that can get pretty cold, sometime we even get snow that early so we buy costumes on the big side so that they can wear warm things underneath. Last year we got cute animal costumes from Target, this year they were old enough to start making their own decisions so I gave them a limited selection of costumes that I thought they’d like and let them pick one. Daughter picked witch and son picked Super Why.

last year my 2 girls and i went as the powerpuff girls and daddy as the prof. just using fabric scraps i sew their dresses.

this year we’re going as the 3 little pigs and the bad wolf. just got to make some ears and tails!

i don’t know how much longer we can do family costumes though.

Leadmythoughts- wow so creative! I was thinking of doing a black outfit and maybe cutting white paper into bone shapes to put on and do a little skeleton? Might be easy, I’m definitely not crafty tho!

Azula wants to be a [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] [name_f]Fairy[/name_f] (from A specific episode of Team Umizoomi), so I’m putting together a thrift store costume for her to wear. She is very insistent that is what she wants to be.
[name_f]Indira[/name_f] I think will be a little geisha because I have a cute little asian looking dress that hasn’t had enough wear, and I will just paint her face & maybe knit a hat that looks like a geisha hairdo.

[name_f]Alice[/name_f]: I think my favorite costume that we made for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] was when she was a baby. We dressed her up as a carrot with me wearing bunny ears. This year she’s going to be a fish, unless she doesn’t change her mind.

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]'s going to be either [name_m]Olaf[/name_m] or a fairy. We’ll see what she picks out at the store.

And this baby’s going to be missing Halloween this year, but [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] and I were thinking about having him or her be a chick or something like that next Halloween.

And this year DH and I going to be Vikings.
