My granddad’s name was [name_u]Roy[/name_u] and before his passing we were really close. I’m expecting a son and am heavily considering giving him [name_u]Roy[/name_u] as a middle name. For a first name we are split between [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], but I don’t know what to do about his middle name.
I have two older children, [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother was called [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], so [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] is a reference to her, and DH’s grandfather was [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], so [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] pays homage to that.
We are expecting a twin girl alongside our new son and are unsure on a first name, but like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] as a middle name, which is after a few family members for DH.
However, I am stuck on whether to use [name_u]Roy[/name_u] in that form, or to use another name starting with R.
Sounds like a great idea! I think [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Roy[/name_u] flows better and fits really with your kid’s names. Another idea is [name_u]Royce[/name_u].
You could use [name_u]Rory[/name_u], I know a few girls called [name_u]Rory[/name_u] / [name_u]Rori[/name_u] / [name_f]Rorie[/name_f] / [name_u]Rorey[/name_u]. Some are short for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], you could use that or Aroy or Jaroy. A more feminine version is [name_m]Roi[/name_m] / [name_m]Roye[/name_m] or Roya / Roia . Including the name [name_u]Roy[/name_u] you could use [name_u]Royal[/name_u] / [name_m]Royale[/name_m]. As [name_u]Roy[/name_u] is from the Gaelic ruadh meaning red, so you could use [name_u]Red[/name_u] / Redde / [name_m]Redd[/name_m].

I think [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] would fit lovingly with the other older-styled names of [name_m]Matthias[/name_m], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], and [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], and would be a note to your grandfather, especially if she went by [name_u]Rory[/name_u].
Lots of people are saying [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Roy[/name_u] sounds much better, but I don’t think [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] [name_u]Roy[/name_u] sounds bad at all! A very viable option.
Felix [name_m]Matthias[/name_m]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
And twins, a boy and girl next? I’d go with something like…
