My DH and I are expecting a little girl in [name]April[/name]! She’ll be the fourth and final edition to the [name]Bennett[/name] family :).
The problem is: we can’t find a name!
Our blindingly blond little ones are [name]William[/name] [name]August[/name], [name]Elliot[/name] [name]Jasper[/name], and [name]Marie[/name] [name]Primrose[/name].
We’d love a more classic first name, and then a nature-based middle name.
We have a few names we like:
[name]Eliza[/name] (but [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Bennett[/name]? A little too [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name] for even me. And it sounds too similar to [name]Elliot[/name])
[name]Tessa[/name] (I’m not keen on it, but DH likes it)
[name]Clara[/name] (We both like this! But then [name]Marie[/name] would be the only one without an L in her name)
[name]Kate[/name] (I love this! DH would prefer [name]Katherine[/name], but I find that a little bland)
So I ask you all: What would you name the newest [name]Bennett[/name] girl?
My favorite of your names is [name]Clara[/name]! I think it’s beautiful… and I don’t think most people would notice that one of your kids doesn’t have an L in their name, that’s not something most people would notice I think. So if you love the name, don’t let that stop you!
Hmm well may I first just say that I adore the names of your little ones! [name]Baby[/name] number 4 deserves an equally gorgey name that fits in with the others. A couple things jump out at me to help with that…
First, I would have an I in her first name so that all the kids have this.
Second, might I recommend an avian middle name for her? All the others have MNs that could be classified into themes. [name]August[/name] = month, [name]Jasper[/name] = [name]Gem[/name], [name]Primrose[/name] = flower. [name]Bird[/name] names are, in my opinion, highly underrated, yet beautiful for girls.
So with those qualities in mind, these combos pop out at me:
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Lark[/name] [name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Lucie[/name] [name]Alouette[/name] [name]Bennett[/name] (same number of letters and syllables as [name]Marie[/name])
[name]Katerina[/name] [name]Starling[/name] [name]Bennett[/name] (nice alternative to [name]Katherine[/name], still yields [name]Kate[/name] nn)
[name]Piper[/name] [name]Aveline[/name] [name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Clarissa[/name] [name]Wren[/name] [name]Bennett[/name] (contains the I, but still yields [name]Clara[/name] nn)
[name]India[/name] [name]Paloma[/name] [name]Bennet[/name] (spanish for dove)
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Sparrow[/name] [name]Bennet[/name]
What about [name]Katrina[/name] nn [name]Kate[/name]?
Not sure about [name]Clara[/name] as with [name]Marie[/name] it makes me think of the magazine [name]Marie[/name] [name]Claire[/name]. Which I guess is not a bad link as such.
As for one without an ‘L’… doubt anyone would notice and so what if they do? Not a big problem.

[name]Rose[/name]! [name]Elliot[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Marie[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] would be so perfect. Or [name]Rosalie[/name] so that she and [name]Marie[/name] have the same ending and she shares the L’s with her brothers.
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Bennett[/name]? Reminds me to heroes series. but it’s cool, I like it.
And I like you mentioned about [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name]. The [name]Bennett[/name] girls are : [name]Jane[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Mary[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], and [name]Lydia[/name].
So what about :
[name]Liesel[/name]
[name]Libby[/name]
[name]Lisbeth[/name]
[name]Caitlin[/name] nn [name]Kate[/name]
I really love the suggestion of a bird-related middle name for our little girl. I think that fits perfectly with the sort of natural trend we have going in the middle. We particularly like [name]Aveline[/name], [name]Wren[/name], and [name]Sparrow[/name]! If you guys have any more bird-like names, I’d love to hear them :)!
I also like the middle name suggestion of [name]Fleur[/name]!
As for first names, as you guys mentioned, [name]Clara[/name]/[name]Claire[/name] with [name]Marie[/name] makes me think of the magazine. I hadn’t noticed that before, but it would bother me in the future.
We really love the suggestions of [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Piper[/name], [name]Caroline[/name]! [name]Piper[/name] especially for me, my mother has always wished for a granddaughter named [name]Piper[/name], but I’ve had bad reactions to it. The one that worries me is [name]Caroline[/name]. Although beautiful, it’s extremely popular.
If you guys could suggest more names that you think fit our style, that’d be wonderful!
[name]Piper[/name] sounds really trendy with your other names [name]IMO[/name]. They’re all so vintage and [name]Piper[/name] is a bit lacklustre. [name]How[/name] about [name]Pippa[/name]?
How about [name]William[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Marie[/name], and [name]Paige[/name]? Marie and Paige would share letters A, I, E. And Paige would go so nicely with nature mn’s, such as Paige Magnolia, Paige Violet, Paige Marigold, Paige Rosemary, Paige Aveline.
Although DH likes [name]Paige[/name], and I agree that it would sound good with our other little ones, I was bullied by a [name]Paige[/name] until high school. Bad memories with [name]Paige[/name], so that one is out for us.
I agree that [name]Piper[/name] would seem out of place with our more classic style.
I do like the suggestion of [name]Magnolia[/name] in the middle :)!
[name]One[/name] name that DH suggested (which is a rarity) is [name]Blair[/name]. He said its a nice alternative to [name]Claire[/name], and not as popular. I like it, but I’m not sold.
[name]One[/name] name I really like is [name]Cora[/name]. Or [name]Norah[/name].
Oh no, that wouldn’t do to pick [name]Paige[/name], due to a bad association. I like [name]Blair[/name], but I like [name]Norah[/name] much better! [name]Norah[/name] is a classic, as is [name]Marie[/name], [name]William[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name].
(And I am still a huge fan of [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Clara[/name] for you, despite the [name]Marie[/name]-[name]Claire[/name] association. I don’t think most people would think of the magazine.) [name]Claire[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name] would be so pretty!
[name]William[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Marie[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] would be a lovely set. I wouldn’t worry about [name]Marie[/name] not having an “L”. Is there a reason why that bothers you? Because, [name]Elliot[/name] would be the one without an “A” and [name]Clara[/name] would be the one without an “I”. I don’t think it matters one what or another.
I also love the idea of [name]Katherine[/name], nn [name]Kate[/name] for your set.
[name]Claire[/name] without a doubt!! [name]Love[/name] her with the other children’s names, and has the same feel as [name]Marie[/name], fresh, classic, pretty!!
I don’t think that [name]Piper[/name] goes well with the other names at all. I actually really like the name [name]Clara[/name] with your kids. My thoughts are:
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Willow[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Robin[/name]
Your children’s names are so lovely! Honestly, an issue I see with the name [name]Blair[/name], personally, is that it is a unisex name, whereas [name]Marie[/name] is most definitely not–it is all girl. This may be a potential snafu down the road-my first name is technically unisex, although rarely used on boys today. My parents gave my older brother a very distinctly masculine, classic name-& many a time I wish I had a purely feminine name. [name]Even[/name] though my given name is considered mainly feminine today ([name]Leslie[/name]) and I’m fine with it, I think you get my drift here…
To me, the spelling of [name]Blaire[/name] looks more feminine at least.
I do think [name]Clara[/name] is a gorgeous name and would work well with your other children’s names. I also love the name [name]Piper[/name] (as does my SO, and he is VERY picky!), but understand your hesitation with regards to keeping the more ‘classical’ theme.
Have you considered [name]Greta[/name]? I think it goes very well with [name]Marie[/name].
I REALLY love the name [name]Grace[/name] with [name]Marie[/name], (and a baby [name]Grace[/name]/[name]Gracie[/name] just always seems so precious for the youngest [name]IMO[/name]). I just had to suggest it as I think it would be a beautiful choice with your current sibset as well.
Marie will most likely be a MN if we ever have a girl! Names that I am thinking of using as first names… that I obviously think go well with Marie are…
Eleanor(a)- nn. Nora
Elise
Elena
Genevieve
Sadie
Bridget
Lucia
Natalie
I also like Cora ( as you suggested) or a longer version like Coraline or Cordelia, Adelaide or Adele is also nice!
not sure if any of the E-L names would work well with Elliot though…
I really like [name]Clara[/name] for your fourth. I think you worrying about [name]Marie[/name] being the only one without an L in her name is a bit silly. I’m the only child in my family without an M in my name but it never bothered me! Plus it was more obvious, considering both of my siblings names start with M.
