[name_f]My[/name_f] due date is end of [name_m]March[/name_m], so it feels a little surreal to see people in here already welcoming their babies while I still have over 11 weeks to go. On the other hand, i have a history of premature labour and baby boy has already given us a scare [name_f][/name_f]- I’ve been told to “take it easy” [name_f][/name_f]- so I won’t be surprised if he decided to make an appearance sooner than expected. But hopefully he’ll stay put for as long as possible

Birth story time
I woke up at 4 am and couldn’t comfortably lay back down. [name_f]My[/name_f] brain had gone to “labor land” so I struggled to be decisive or confident that the baby was indeed coming very soon. I quickly read [name_m]Psalm[/name_m] 128 and took away the affirmations “I will be happy and it will go well for me” and “I am a fruitful vine.”
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Just[/name_m] before 5 am I called the midwife and woke my husband. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband took our three “big” kids across the road to their grandparents. Our oldest said, “It’s so early. Mommy has never had a baby in the morning before.” [name_m]The[/name_m] first of many sweet moments with him.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]The[/name_m] midwife’s assistant arrived at our house 20 min before [name_f]Kate[/name_f] was born. I could feel and my husband could see [name_f]Kate[/name_f] move as I was having contractions. I decided I wanted to lay down and for a minute that was really nice. Then I popped up on my hands and knees and started pushing. [name_m]The[/name_m] assistant called the midwife who answered and said, “I’m in the driveway.” As she entered our bedroom Kate’s head was out. One more push and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] was born. [name_m]The[/name_m] midwife passed [name_f]Kate[/name_f] to me and helped us sit back in the bed.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]My[/name_f] husband was so confident that we were having a boy that I really had to process when I looked to see and saw that we had a baby girl. [name_f]She[/name_f] was born at 6:12 am weighed and 7 lbs 15 oz. [name_f]My[/name_f] jaw dropped, I’ve always wanted a 7 lbs baby and by one ounce [name_f]Kate[/name_f] made my dreams come.
[name_f][/name_f]I’m incredibly grateful to [name_m]God[/name_m] for every detail of Kate’s pregnancy, birth, and life so far—what a blessing and reward it is to be her mom.
