My husband just thought of this name and I think I love it! I liked [name]Jack[/name] but I already know a few in the family, but “Jackman” sounds even more masculine/strong. We have a son “[name]Harrison[/name]” and “Jackman” sounds really nice together. It’s very uncommon, it’s a surname, but I think I love it. What do you y’all think?
Jackman… when [name]Jackson[/name] just isn’t enough.
It sounds like you’re just trying to make the name sound more masculine and strong. Not a fan.
I try to be pretty open minded but I just really do not care for it at all… I [name]ADORE[/name] the name [name]Jack[/name], and I like [name]Jackson[/name], but not Jackman.
Not a fan of Jackman. I know someone with it as a last name so thats how I think of it. It kinda sounds like a child super hero name to me too. [name]Jack[/name]-man! Idk
I think you are better off with [name]Jackson[/name] or maybe [name]John[/name]/ [name]Johnathan[/name] with the nn [name]Jack[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are plenty masculine and go well with [name]Harrison[/name]. Plus if you love the name [name]Jack[/name] then you should just use it regardless.
Am I the only one who thinks of [name]Hugh[/name] Jackman straightaway? It seems quite tacky to me for that reason alone–although I feel the same way about [name]Beckham[/name] as a FN, and that’s starting to catch on. I just wouldn’t want to name my son the same name as the surname of a celebrity that hundreds of women drool over, but I could be alone in that. bahaha.
ETA: I love [name]Jack[/name], though–I think [name]Harrison[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] would be perfect together!
I don’t like “[name]Jackson[/name]”, it seems too sporty or too ‘michael-jackson’ to me. And [name]Jack[/name] is cute, which would probably be his nickname. But I love the idea of the formal “Jackman” as the full first name. I don’t think this name is too out there at all, I’ve seen a lot of other names I’m surprised to hear. I don’t think it’s a weird name or anything. Sounds very traditional/classy to me.
We’ve had a really hard time with names and this is the first one I really loved.
Would love to hear some positive feedback! Thnx!
No offense, but I don’t really like it. [name]How[/name] about just [name]Jack[/name] or [name]Jackson[/name]?
If you like it, use it. It’s ultimately your decision. I think it’s silly to ask people to only post if they agree with you.
I agree with the other posters. I don’t like it at all. I definitely don’t get “traditional” nor “classy”, but more “trying too hard”. It sounds terribly made up as a first name.
Sorry. I know it’s not what you wanted to hear.
Jackman just sounds kind of “dirty” to me… I think my mind is in the gutter, but I think [name]Jackson[/name] is a hundreds times better and [name]Jack[/name] is fine on it’s own.
This. Also, Jackman is horrible, no offense. Makes me think Pac-[name]Man[/name] or [name]Marvel[/name] comics, not a particularly strong name.
I thought of [name]Hugh[/name] Jackman straightaway as well. I don’t have a problem with naming your children after celebrities or giving them names of celebrities. I have had [name]Channing[/name], [name]Jensen[/name] and [name]Blair[/name] on my boys list off and on for a while and they all belong to celebrities but there are also real and recognized first names where Jackman is not. I would go for [name]Jack[/name], just [name]Jack[/name], its such a classic, why ruin it? If you are going for the celebrity association though, I think [name]Hugh[/name] would make a much better choice.
Yeah, sorry, Jackman screams [name]Wolverine[/name] to me. I like the name [name]Jack[/name] standalone, or [name]Jackson[/name].
[name]Cris[/name]
We just named our son Jackman. We plan to call him “[name]Jack[/name]” but love the name Jackman as a formal name. We thought [name]Jackson[/name] was too worn out and wanted something unique. Feedback so far has been very positive!
If your going to be just calling him [name]Jack[/name], then why not just name him [name]Jack[/name]? I do like Jackman though, but he could get lost with all the Jacksons
Yay, some positive feedback! I know everyone has their opinions but it’s nice to finally hear some good stuff. If you loved a name I’m sure you’d like some encouragment as well. So there’s another Jackman! I do like [name]Jack[/name], but I like the sound of Jackman even better. I’m surprised it hasn’t been used much, maybe it’ll become popular, every new name starts somewhere I guess.
Really don’t like it, sorry. [name]Jack[/name] is cute, [name]Jackson[/name] is okay for me, really dislike Jackman. I don’t like the “man” in it, thats just a little too much for me. Doesn’t have a classic feeling for me either. Thought of [name]Hugh[/name] Jackman right away.
But if you’re so set on the name, use it. If it doesn’t matter to you that most people probably won’t be too crazy about it, I mean I wouldn’t say it’s unusable, just not pretty.
Like most of the other posters, I’m not a fan of Jackman. I think most people would probably mess it up and call him [name]Jackson[/name] or he’ll end up teased for the name. I think [name]Jackson[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] are better choices.
The name Jackman doesn’t bother me. After reading some of the other posts I definitely see lots of teasing potential with this name, but I don’t think that is a reason not to use it if you really like it.
