Baby boy - Torin?

What do you think of the name [name]Torin[/name] for a little boy? We’re expecting a boy who will join big brother [name]Cashel[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] this summer. Middle name would be [name]Michael[/name], after my father, and our last name is very British (D***worth). Nickname would be [name]Tor[/name], which I love. Thoughts? What kind of feeling does this name have for you?

I really like [name]Torin[/name]. I came across it a few months ago and added it to my list. It’s different and sort of refreshing compared to all the Benjamins, Michaels, and Aidans today.

I really like the sound of [name]Torin[/name], but I have to say I think the spelling may look a little feminine, I think [name]Toren[/name] or Torren look a little more masculine but either way great name!

[name]Torin[/name] is a wonderful Irish name that pairs well with [name]Cashel[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]. It’s strong and masculine and rarely chosen. But please don’t change the spelling as that’s part of its charm! Great choice! All the best!

[name]Just[/name] today I was reading about a man called [name]Torrin[/name] and I thought it was a cool name that I haven’t heard very much at all. I like it. I like it with one R or two. But keep the I, whatever you do. I love it!

I really like it and think it pairs well with [name]Cashel[/name]. Great choice!

I have loved this name ever since playing the computer game [name]Torin[/name]'s Passage back in the day.

A very nice choice!!!

I know a high school age boy named [name]Torin[/name], but aside from him I have never heard the name used before. I actually think it’s very cool, and it does pair very well with brother [name]Cashel[/name] as well as your surname. [name]Torin[/name] [name]Michael[/name] works perfectly.

I agree with a previous poster that [name]Torin[/name] is slightly girly but I really like it spelled Torren.

I disagree with some of the previous posters and I think [name]Torin[/name] seems masculine. I have never heard of this name, but I would say from most to least masculine possible spellings …

[name]Toren[/name]
[name]Torin[/name]
Taurin
[name]Torrin[/name]
[name]Toryn[/name]
Torren

We have a little one year old girl named [name]Torin[/name] in our neighborhood. I have a hard time picturing a boy with that name after knowing her.

Thanks for the comments! We would definitely keep the spelling, since it’s a derivation of the Gaelic words for either “chief” or “thunder.” I know of females [name]Torrey[/name]/[name]Tori[/name] and [name]Taryn[/name], but to me [name]Torin[/name] feels - and sounds - very masculine. And [name]Tor[/name] is definitely a guy’s nickname!

My husband likes playing occasional computer games and had also played “[name]Torin[/name]'s Passage” back in the day, with fond memories. I also found out that “[name]Torin[/name]” is the name of an auto tools company (jacks, etc.), which is very manly, and the name of an Olympic skier and an old Hollywood actor. (Google is a great thing!) All of that also seems to sway it more towards the masculine side to me.

My son is named [name]Torin[/name] [name]Michael[/name] and we have had LOTS of comments on his name and none of it has been bad - but maybe people are just being nice. He is now 1 1/2 and his 3yr old brother loves saying his name

I love it and it would be my top choice if it wasn’t so similar to the second half of our db surname. I think the [name]Torin[/name] spelling is the most masculine and [name]Tor[/name] is a brilliant nn. [name]Torin[/name] [name]Michael[/name] works well with [name]Cashel[/name] as well.

I went to school with a [name]Torin[/name] as a kid. I like the name a lot.

I hadnt heard of [name]Torin[/name] before, it definatly sounds masculine to me and sounds great against [name]Cashel[/name]!
