I think Townsend is great … go for it
If Townsend has special meaning for your family, then I think you have your winner! It’s more surnamey than I like but as long as your surname isn’t a familiar boys name (eg. [name]Lawrence[/name], [name]Thomas[/name]), then it should be ok. Personally, The fn and ln sounding like they’re inside-out is MORE important than the fn and mn. I don’t like mn’s ending in “d” with Townsend so I would eliminate [name]Marc[/name], [name]Gerhard[/name] and [name]Arnold[/name]. Townsend [name]Frederick[/name] would be my pick.
Thanks for the input
Anyone else? We are certainly not wed to the idea of Townsend, and we are still toying with [name]Frederick[/name], [name]Jonas[/name] or [name]Edmund[/name] quite a bit! So feel free to chime in please!
hi lineylou,
i am sorry to say this but I prefer Townsend as a mn.
It sounds great with all three of the names you two like
[name]Fredrick[/name] Townsend
[name]Jonas[/name] Townsend
[name]Edmund[/name] Townsend
all sound great.
Or maybe a variation of Townsend that would still honor it… unfortunately i am not very creative to think of any but some of the berries are just fantastic at this kinda thing
good luck
c’smom
I think Townsend is just a little bit too much of a surname for my taste (although I [name]LOVE[/name] Townes) I really love [name]Jonas[/name] and [name]Clive[/name]! [name]Clive[/name] Townsend would be really nice and he could still be Townes!
For variations that still honor:
Townly
Townes
Towley
Towens
You could always play with the letters to give it a newer look and make it not stand out as a surname.
Good luck and congratulations!
I think Townsend would be best left as a middle name. [name]Frederick[/name] Townsend would be an amazing choice.
I’m not loving Townsend or Townes, it just doesn’t have the right rhythm for a first name. But in your position I’d absolutely use it in the middle. [name]Edmund[/name] Townsend is a lot of -nd, but i kind of like it anyway. [name]Jonah[/name] Townsend also sounds good to me.
Thanks for chiming in, all! I am reluctant to use Townsend as a middle name unless it’s with [name]Frederick[/name], as our daughter’s name is already a tribute to DH’s mother, and I feel pretty strongly about having a name from “my side” somewhere in the mix with this one. [name]Frederick[/name] is the only one of the first name contenders that is a family name from my side, so it’s the only one I would pair with Townsend in the middle, if that makes sense. And I don’t think I will have much luck talking my husband into [name]Albert[/name], [name]Gerhard[/name], or [name]Arnold[/name] (the other names from my side) as first name options.
We may end up shelving Townsend this go 'round and saving it for a middle name for our next hypothetical baby.
Well I can see it both ways, since my last name is indeed Townsend. My husband’s 3 brothers are in the military and where my husband works, all of them are called by their last name. So it is usable. If it helps here are some of their names and mine that might spark some ideas. [name]Steven[/name], [name]Logan[/name], [name]Lee[/name], [name]Chase[/name], [name]Zachary[/name], [name]Kael[/name], [name]Jeremy[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], and [name]Robert[/name].
