[name_m]Long[/name_m] time lurker, first time poster!
We’re expecting our second son around [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. My husband and I had so little difficulty naming our firstborn. My husband had the name [name_u]Logan[/name_u] picked out before he even met me! Not so much this time… [name_u]Logan[/name_u]'s middle name is my maiden name, which is Irish and starts with O’B… I, of course, picked that out and I’m very happy with his name. Our last name begins with A and starts with the sound “[name_m]Ah[/name_m].” It has three syllables and ends with the sound “nah.” It’s very uncommon, but looks like it’s spelled.
My husband would like [name_u]Baby[/name_u] [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] to have his first name, [name_m]David[/name_m], as a middle name, which is fine by me. Not that it’s crucial for this post, but my name is [name_f]Karen[/name_f].
Our current names in the running include:
- [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] (My favorite - I’ve always loved [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. Probably nickname [name_m]Ted[/name_m]/[name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. But [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is nice too. Not a popular choice with our families, not husband’s favorite.)
- [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] (Problem here comes with the nickname. I would be very happy with [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], but husband threatens to call him [name_m]Chuck[/name_m], which I do not love)
- [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] (I like how [name_u]Logan[/name_u] and [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] sound together)
- [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] (But I don’t love [name_u]Andy[/name_u] or [name_u]Drew[/name_u] as nicknames. I used to love [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], but it’s cooling on me recently)
- [name_m]Henry[/name_m] (would need some other middle name. Not [name_m]David[/name_m]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] not want to answer questions about [name_m]Thoreau[/name_m])
- [name_m]Richard[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] (Nickname problem again. I don’t love [name_m]Rick[/name_m], [name_m]Richie[/name_m], [name_m]Dick[/name_m], [name_m]Rich[/name_m]…)
Names we both like but will not use for a variety of reasons: [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Landon[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
Names I like that husband doesn’t: [name_m]Eamon[/name_m], [name_m]Declan[/name_m], [name_m]Cillian[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Abraham[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] (Ok, I know I have a bit of an Irish thing going here…)
Names husband likes that I do not: [name_m]Jackson[/name_m], [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Floyd[/name_m], [name_m]Lloyd[/name_m], [name_u]Carter[/name_u], [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], [name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Austin[/name_m], [name_u]Dallas[/name_u], [name_m]Grant[/name_m] (Yes, he has a country thing going on…)
So, please hit me with your recommendations, comments, etc. Maybe there’s a name out there we haven’t considered that is perfect, maybe it’s one of our current choices. Maybe we’ll have to meet [name_u]Baby[/name_u] [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] before we make up our minds… Thank you!
