This is my first time posting here - very exciting! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are expecting our second baby boy at the end of [name_f]May[/name_f] 2024. Big brother’s name is [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Chapman[/name_m] with a two syllable “B” last name. His middle name is a family name, and if you ask his Dad, his first name is a nod to [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars … (Mama just loved the name!)
We had Luke’s name picked and a girl name (Ivy) for a good amount of time before we were even trying for a baby, so while we are elated for [name_m]Luke[/name_m] to have a little brother, we are struggling to pick a name.
The middle name will be [name_u]Lee[/name_u], the same middle name as my father-in-law who passed away. We would also consider [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] (an homage to his first name, Donald) if [name_u]Lee[/name_u] doesn’t flow with the first name.
Hubby loves [name_u]Logan[/name_u] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m], but is not as keen on [name_u]Miles[/name_u] and [name_u]Max[/name_u] - I love both of them. [name_u]Max[/name_u] was my grandfather’s name, and I also like that it’s a standalone nickname/first name like [name_m]Luke[/name_m].
I love also love [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_m]Cole[/name_m], and [name_u]Seth[/name_u], but Husband nixed those.
I love your name choices! All 4 names would work well, although [name_u]Max[/name_u] [name_m]Donavon[/name_m] or [name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] are my personal favorites
Congratulations! I think [name_u]Logan[/name_u] works well for you guys. It’s shorter which is similar to [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and flows well style wise. [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] has a cool sound to it I think!
[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to NB! Big bro’s name is so unique!
Of yours, I think [name_u]Max[/name_u] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] probably matches best with big bro’s name!
To go with [name_u]Lee[/name_u], maybe:
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] (Also a suuuuper subtle nod to [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars that would not be taken as such)
[name_m]Hank[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] (has the same sort of vibe/charm as Luke)
[name_u]Evan[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to Nameberry and congrats on your 2nd boy!
I think any of the names you have listed work, here are some thoughts:
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] - will this be your last baby? If no, or if potential for another baby, would you want that baby to also have an L name? If you have [name_m]Luke[/name_m] & [name_u]Logan[/name_u], might be hard to name the next baby [name_u]Miles[/name_u]. I’m persnonally a fan of each kiddo having their own initial.
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] - I like this! Feels a bit unexpected next to [name_m]Luke[/name_m], what about [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]?
[name_u]Miles[/name_u] - I like [name_u]Miles[/name_u]! I like that [name_m]Luke[/name_m] & [name_u]Miles[/name_u] are both one syllsble, but same as above with L pattern, if you have [name_m]Luke[/name_m] & [name_u]Miles[/name_u], could you add [name_u]Ivy[/name_u] or would you want to switch to [name_f]Eve[/name_f] to stick with 1 syllable names?
[name_u]Max[/name_u] - I really like this with [name_m]Luke[/name_m]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] that it has connection to your grandfather, but then also the nickname / standalone name (like you said) same as [name_m]Luke[/name_m].
I love seeing [name_m]Luke[/name_m] used. [name_m]Luke[/name_m] was on my list for my son along with [name_u]Sam[/name_u], [name_m]Adam[/name_m] and [name_u]John[/name_u] in a similar style. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband wasn’t on board with any of them so we ultimately went in a different direction.
I like your list but it sounds like you and your husband might be a bit too far apart on your preferred names. I gravitate towards [name_u]Miles[/name_u] and [name_u]Max[/name_u] myself. They just sound like Luke’s brothers. I like the unexpectedness of [name_m]Roman[/name_m] though.
Some other suggestions for you:
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Jonah[/name_u], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_u]Jesse[/name_u], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Grant[/name_m], [name_u]Julian[/name_u], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_u]Nolan[/name_u], [name_u]Mack[/name_u], [name_u]Toby[/name_u], [name_u]Callum[/name_u], [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u], [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
I like that [name_u]Max[/name_u] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] would use names from both families and your point about [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_m]Luke[/name_m].
I would nix [name_u]Logan[/name_u] not to sound matchy because the other choices sound strong in a sibset.
[name_m]Roman[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_u]Max[/name_u] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m], [name_u]Miles[/name_u] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m]- great choices!
I’d add [name_u]Chance[/name_u], [name_m]Dax[/name_m], [name_u]Rhett[/name_u], [name_u]Dane[/name_u], [name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Nate[/name_m] for consideration.
I have two grown sons [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_u]Layne[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Layne[/name_u] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] would be a great choice. From your list my first choice would be [name_u]Max[/name_u] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m]. I would prefer just Rhome [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] with [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Chapman[/name_m].
[name_u]Miles[/name_u], [name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] are all super cute
[name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_u]Logan[/name_u] feels like a bit of a mouthful
And [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] feel fairly stylistically different.
Assuming the baby will already have your deceased father in law’s surname, do you really want to use his middle or first name too? Use [name_u]Max[/name_u] for sure - something from your family. [name_u]Max[/name_u] Donald/Donovan, [name_u]Milo[/name_u] [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_u]Max[/name_u] , [name_u]Max[/name_u] [name_u]Logan[/name_u].
