All of the middle names below are family names except for [name]William[/name]. I just like [name]William[/name]. H unfortunately doesn’t so it’s probably not a contender… but below is our official list.
[name]Baby[/name] is coming VERY soon so we really need to pick. THANK YOU for all of your feedback so far and I promise, this is my final post on the subject. Last name is [name]Cecil[/name].
[name]Archer[/name] Vanderbilt [name]Cecil[/name] sounds like a cool fellow! I also like [name]Harper[/name] [name]Wilson[/name] in spite of the 2-2-2 syllable thing. And [name]Archer[/name] [name]William[/name] is nice. [name]Harper[/name] [name]William[/name] would be good too, although I think you might like [name]Archer[/name] the best! Good luck!
[name]Harper[/name] is by far my favorite! While it’s skyrocketed for girls, it’s also climbing for boys and I think it’s so charming. I find it hard to believe a [name]Harper[/name] would have problems with it. [name]Harper[/name] [name]Wilson[/name] sounds quite surnamey to me, although lovely. Would you consider [name]Harper[/name] [name]Reid[/name] or [name]Harper[/name] [name]William[/name]? I think those would be lovely, too. If you decide not to go for [name]Harper[/name] as a FN, [name]William[/name] [name]Harper[/name] is my favorite.
I prefer [name]William[/name] for the first name, because your ln, [name]Cecil[/name], is frequently a fn. I think choosing a fn that is frequently a ln, like [name]Harper[/name] or [name]Archer[/name], would cause confusion in attendance lists at school and staff lists at work (I’m picturing e.g. “[name]Cecil[/name], [name]Harper[/name]”). Whereas a more obvious fn like [name]William[/name] (or perhaps later, [name]Bill[/name]?) will reduce confusion for your son’s teachers and coworkers.
My favorites are [name]Archer[/name] [name]William[/name] and [name]William[/name] [name]Harper[/name]. My only other comment is that I don’t think [name]Reid[/name] flows well as a middle name with a last name [name]Cecil[/name].
I am voting for [name]Archer[/name] [name]William[/name], but honestly [name]William[/name] [name]Cecil[/name] sounds better than [name]Archer[/name] [name]Cecil[/name] in my opinion, I think that [name]Wilson[/name] emphasises the ‘c’ factor in [name]Cecil[/name] so I would avoid, [name]Harper[/name] [name]Cecil[/name] is okay but … [name]Archer[/name] Vanderbilt [name]Cecil[/name] is a substantial name, rather grand, a nice choice.
I agree with the pp that [name]Reid[/name] does not flow well with [name]Cecil[/name] (with the repeated long E). Also “[name]Wilson[/name] [name]Cecil[/name]” with the triple S sound is a borderline tongue-twister and not the best flow. I also think that a definite first-namey name is best with [name]Cecil[/name] to avoid confusion over which is his first and last name. Therefore, I vote for [name]William[/name] [name]Harper[/name] [name]Cecil[/name]; although, my favorites would be [name]William[/name] Vanderbilt [name]Cecil[/name] and [name]William[/name] [name]Archer[/name] [name]Cecil[/name].
[name]William[/name] [name]Harper[/name] or [name]William[/name] [name]Archer[/name], but since you said [name]William[/name] is probably out I like [name]Archer[/name] [name]William[/name] or [name]Archer[/name] [name]Reid[/name].
I also love [name]William[/name], but since your husband doesn’t like it, I won’t vote for that one. [name]Archer[/name] [name]Reid[/name] has a great feel, flow, and sound. But I think I like [name]Archer[/name] Vanderbuilt [name]Cecil[/name] the best. The others just seem a bit short with your last name. What great family names you have!! I’m jealous!
Hm, well all six are really lovely, you can’t go wrong! My favourite would have to be [name]Archer[/name] Vanderbilt [name]Cecil[/name], though. Such a charming name! I also adore [name]Harper[/name] [name]Wilson[/name], so I vote for either of those two. Good luck!
I love [name]Archer[/name] [name]William[/name] or [name]William[/name] [name]Archer[/name]. Please don’t use [name]Harper[/name]. There are tons of little girl Harpers now.
