What are some honest unbiased thoughts on Calla or Callaia?
My more classic family members find both names “odd” and “made up”. And some say CAH LA. But its universally Cal (as in California) LA. Right? (We live in the states)
I will admit it’s a bit different then my more traditional/vintage style. I like Calla but maybe Callaia elevates it a tad?
i think it’s unique and cute! i’ve never heard of that name before and i think that’s a good thing. i’m sure people will mispronounce it but i don’t thinks that’s a big deal. i would pronounce it as “Cal-uh”.
I like [name_f]Callia[/name_f] too but there’s soo many ways to pronounce it. I’ve heard CaLeah. Calli-a. Cahleah. But yes it’s very pretty!
I though [name_f]Callaia[/name_f] would be pronounce [name_u]Cal[/name_u] lay a
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] has really grown on me! It has the popular -a ending and I can see it becoming a lot more mainstream in the coming years. There are so many unusual/unique names now that I don’t think many people will bat an eye. I think your family will adapt to it, focus on what you and your SO like!
I love [name_f]Calla[/name_f]! I’m not sure why someone would find it odd when it’s a very short and sweet name. But I’ve found that people will have a problem with literally any name you picked; I even know someone who’s family gave her hell about picking the name [name_f]Ella[/name_f] which is literally one of the most simple and classic names I can possibly think of. All this to say, try not to take other people’s opinions to heart too much. [name_f]Calla[/name_f] is a beautiful name. I like [name_f]Callaia[/name_f] a lot too, and I think I might even add that to my list now. And for the record I’ve never heard anyone pronounce it any way but Cal-uh, so I really don’t think they’d have any issues. [name_f]Callaia[/name_f] might get some mispronunciations but I think it’s simple enough to correct. I also really love [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] or [name_u]Calloway[/name_u].
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] is lovely!! Floral, clear and pretty. [name_f]Callaia[/name_f] is distinct and interesting but I like [name_f]Calla[/name_f] best
I like both!
I have only ever heard [name_f]Calla[/name_f] be pronounced as CAH-LAH (so not ‘ca’ like ‘California’ but like ‘call’) but that might be a cultural/language thing.
[name_f]Callaia[/name_f] sounds very elegant, you could even use [name_f]Calla[/name_f] as nickname, but I like both as standalone names
I pronounce it “cah-la” with a very slight emphasis on the first syllable. I really really like this name! I had forgotten all about it but it might slide onto my list… It’s just so unique and pretty, without being overstated in any way. It’s a cozy simple name which is exactly what I love
[name_f]Calla[/name_f] is simple and sweet! I don’t like [name_f]Callaia[/name_f] as much to be honest, it doesn’t have the same spunk and floral feel. I say [name_f]Calla[/name_f] like you and [name_f]Callaia[/name_f] like kah-lye-uh.
I love both! I haven’t actually heard of [name_f]Callaia[/name_f] before, but it’s a beautiful name. If I had to choose, I might say [name_f]Callaia[/name_f] because it’s so unique.
