We kept gender a surprise and baby girl has arrived! We are completely stuck on what to name her. We would like a name that is unusual in the sense it isn’t going to be a name where she meets lots of people sharing her name, a name that wears well as a child and adult and also one with a nice meaning.
[name_f][/name_f]

I like [name_m]Irish[/name_m] names and nature names. Partner doesn’t love some of the [name_m]Irish[/name_m] names I like because of the spellings. He likes unique names less than I do but also doesn’t want a really popular name for our daughter. We would like daughter’s name to go with [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] well and would love any suggestions please.
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]Feel[/name_m] like we haven’t necessarily found THE one yet.
Of your list, I’d personally first cross off the ones starting with R or P - so all kids getting their own starting letter (unless you really loving that repeat letter name).
Of those left, the ones I think are best with Reuben & Phoebe are:
Harriet
Margot
Grace
Alicia
Astrid
Amelia
Cora
Clara
Cecily
Maeva / e
Mabel
Keira
Others you might like:
Leonor (nn Leni, Leo, Nora)
Liora
Iris
Tessa / Tess
Imogen nn Immy
Valerie
Saskia
Camille
Constance
Lovella
Estelle
Marigold
Aneira
Loretta
Lydia
Louisa
Tallulah
Sabella
Claudia
Bridget
Chiara
Delphine nn Delphi
Marceline
Tabitha nn Tibby
Juliet
Willa
Vera
What a great list! I particularly love [name_f]Roxie[/name_f], [name_f]Gigi[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Piper[/name_f], [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeva[/name_f]!
[name_f][/name_f]
Other ideas based on her: [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Demi[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Shay[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Celeste[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Annika[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Seren[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Odette[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Adrienne[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Maren[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Alix[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]Selah/Sayla [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cassia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Eden[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Davina[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Kenna[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Vada[/name_f]
I love: [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reuben[/name_m], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Darcy[/name_f] (my favorite!) [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reuben[/name_m], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reuben[/name_m], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reuben[/name_m], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reuben[/name_m], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Quinn[/name_f]
You have a lovely list of names but I would avoid repeating initials so would leave off R + P names. [name_f][/name_f]For me this leaves me with these favourites to work with your sibling set… [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Winnie[/name_f], [name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] + [name_f]Maya[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
I think with your sibling set [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] & [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] provide a stylistically cohesive sibling set with an upper crust [name_f]British[/name_f] flair. [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Maeva[/name_f], [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] + [name_f]Maya[/name_f] feel more European in style and provide a different flair. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] + [name_f]Nora[/name_f] feel fashionable with R + P finally I think [name_f]Orla[/name_f] + [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] are fun within your sibling set a little unexpected and quirky. Personally my favourite is [name_f]Clara[/name_f] pronounced KLAARA
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (lovely, but rhymey with Ps name) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Grace[/name_f] (very popular) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Amelia[/name_f] (so popular) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] (lovely, but not sure it fits with your partner’s tastes) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Maeva[/name_f] (I just like the sound of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] more than either of Maeva’s pronunciations )
[name_f][/name_f]
I’d be rooting for (unless they’ve already been ruled out:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Darcy[/name_f] (Irish, but easy to say and spell, pretty and cool!) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Margot[/name_f] (cosy but solid, familiar like R and P, but not too[name_f][/name_f] popular yet) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Astrid[/name_f] (sparky and pretty) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Elowen[/name_f] (warm, friendly and lovely) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nora[/name_f] (cute and vintage, but easy to say and spell) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Clara[/name_f] (bright and clear) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Celine[/name_f] (unexpected and beautiful) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Cecily[/name_f] (bubbly and sleek at the same time) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Juniper[/name_f] (bright and bubbly but with grounded nicknames [name_f]June[/name_f], [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], and Junie) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Una[/name_f] (Irish, nature-meaning, international) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Mabel[/name_f] (cosy and cute but solid too [name_f][/name_f]- keeps the subtle letter B link between sibs) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Clover[/name_f] (bold, but familiar, nature connected but with grounded sounds)
Of the names you listed, [name_f]Astrid[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], and [name_f]Maeva[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] seem to perfectly bridge the gap between your love for unique names and your partner’s preference for accessibility. They are all stylish, lovely, and less common than most of the others on your list.
[name_f][/name_f]
Two other [name_m]Irish[/name_m] names I love which I think fit the mold are; [name_f]Aisling[/name_f][name_f][/name_f], it means ‘dream’ or ‘vision’, I also like [name_f]Niamh[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] which mans ‘bright’ or ‘radiant’.
[name_f]My[/name_f] suggestion would be to focus on the list you do have, as you may not find the perfect name until after you’ve named your daughter. It may be that once you choose your favourite from the available options, she will make the name hers and in time it will feel perfect.
[name_f][/name_f]
If you can, try to be led by your instincts rather than focusing on names meeting specific criteria. Most of your names meet your preferences already.
[name_f][/name_f]
I’d suggest making a short list. One way could be choosing your top 10 names individually, not in any order, and see if any of your names overlap. If there’s no overlap, add another 10 names. You’ll eventually find a few names you both enjoy. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if they don’t feel quite right, look at their good qualities and give them some time. We named our son [name_f][/name_f] five days after he was born so I get the pressure to settle on a name quickly. But usually you can give yourself a few days up to even a few weeks to finalise the name.
[name_f][/name_f]
For what it’s worth, these are the names I feel suit [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] best:
