My sister is my rock, my best friend, my other half! Her name is [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] and I’m trying to think of girls names/middle name that would somehow tie my sister into my daughters name. I feel like [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] is a hard middle name to go with anything! Please help!!!
My sisters name is Brittany Leigh… however we have a family full of girls and a majority has the “Leigh” passed down. It was my fathers first wife’s name who passed away at 28 from cancer :(. I love that everyone has honored her and kept the name going. I would like to honor my sister in her own way.
Have you thought of giving her the same first and middle initials? That opens up a whole range of new names. Some beautiful ‘b’ names just to start off with might be…
You could also use a variation of [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] like [name_f]Britannia[/name_f], Priteni, (some say this is the origins of the name [name_f]Brittany[/name_f]) or [name_u]Britton[/name_u].
Or if you want to use it as a middle some combos I might suggest…
I love Brittania. It seems more of a guilty pleasure name, though. There’s also [name_f]Britta[/name_f]. If you had a boy you could use [name_m]Britton[/name_m]or Brett.
I think plenty of names work with [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] as a middle name.
I’ll second Brittania, [name_f]Britta[/name_f], or [name_u]Britton[/name_u]. I have a cousin (a girl) named [name_u]Britton[/name_u]. I thought it a pretty and unusual name when I was a kid.
I’ll add my own name, [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. Rare, these days. I’ve not met many Bridgets, and I haven’t heard it on any babies. If others mis-hear my name, they always think it’s [name_f]Brittany[/name_f].
Another way to honor your sister is to find a quality you love about her, then find a name to match. It’s a more subtle connection, but opens the field of possibility up.
For example, my mom was born on the Fourth of [name_u]July[/name_u]. She’s patriotic, for sure, but not loud about it. She’s also a trustworthy confidant and absolutely loyal to her faith and her family. To honor my mom without using her given name (which has already been used), I could find a patriotic name, or a name that means loyal or steadfast or trustworthy. Something like [name_u]True[/name_u], [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_m]Loyal[/name_m], or [name_f]Faith[/name_f]; [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m], Revere, or [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m].
Perhaps there’s a name like that you’d like to use to honor what you love about your sister.
If you like short one or two syllable first names, I would use [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] as your daughters middle name. To me the following work particularly well so it is mostly a style issue:
This might sound weird, but how about choosing another region in [name_f]France[/name_f] beside [name_f]Brittany[/name_f]? [name_f]Loire[/name_f] is one I love, but I would have to research to find more.
I have a niece whose name is [name_f]Brittan[/name_f]. I would use [name_f]Brittan[/name_f] as a middle name, or if you want to use a form of the name [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], I love the name [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], and think it would make a great middle name.
Britleigh? Britlie? Or using [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] as a middle? Maybe choosing 5 names that you like and asking your sister which 2 she likes best could also include her on the first name!
It sounds like you’re searching for a first name to go with [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] as a middle, but I stumbled across this and had to suggest the name “Britley”. It may not be your style (and I think Brittleigh or some other spelling alternative is more aesthetically pleasing) but I know someone whose name is Britley and she wears it well. Normally I don’t like smoosh/combo names but with your sisters name being [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] it really does seem like a perfect fit.
As a middle, I think first names ending in -a(h*) work best:
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] (Britley)
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]*
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Norah[/name_f]
Etc.
As a first, you have a great variety of options for [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] or Britley/Britleigh.
