[name_m]Hi[/name_m] was just wanting to get thoughts on the name Irelyn?
I don’t love it.
It intially makes me think of [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. I have seen it before and looked it up and found the following beautiful definition on urban dictionary:
A beautiful soul, with the spirit of the Celtic and eyes that devour every waking thought. A beautiful and enchanting fairy princess who defines integrity, determination and love with her very being. Adventure and enchantment fill her days as curiosity leads her to explore the deepest caverns and darkest forests, radiating her beauty before her so that she is never afraid. For she is protected, loved, shielded from those who might seek to harm her by a powerful force
Considering this I think it’s a lovely name as long as you do not live in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f].
I like it alot. Yes, it looks like [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] but thats not a bad thing! If you love it, go for it!
I dislike it - it looks like a misspelling or misinterpretation of [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] to me.
I am neutral on it.
^wss sorry!
I like the sound but it does seem like a made-up version of [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] to me. I wasn’t sure when I saw it if it was pronounced IRE-lyn or EE-reh-lyn, but I’m guessing IRE-lyn?
I would just prefer [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
Ire means anger, except in the name [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], which is evolved from [name_f]Eire[/name_f] + land. I don’t like it.
I dislike it…a lot.
I don’t find any more or less offensive than the much more popular place names like [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] or [name_u]Paris[/name_u], but I think spelling it with the -lyn ending makes it feel trendy in a negative way and it will forever need to be spelled out for others.
Honestly, it just looks like an overly trendy way of spelling [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. The same way Bostyn or [name_u]Londyn[/name_u] looks. If you like the name [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], then go for [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t go for a trendy spelling of the name.
Not a fan for many of the same reasons already mentioned by previous posters.
I like it. If you like it, go for it. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t worry too much about what others think.
I would go with [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. Irelyn would be misspelled all of the time.
I have to agree with the others that said it looks like a butchered form of [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] to me.
