They do have a different sound to them if you pronounce them Kee-an and [name_u]Kye[/name_u]-ah so I don’t think it’s that bad but it is still pretty close.

Are you planning to have more children? If yes, you’d be forcing yourself to use another K name for a third baby, so I’d avoid it. If not, then I think [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] and [name_m]Kian[/name_m] are fine, as long as [name_m]Kian[/name_m] isn’t pronounced keye-an.

I think it’s too close either way you pronounce [name_m]Kian[/name_m], but if you and your husband really love it, you should do it. I’d suggest [name_f]Callie[/name_f] for a similar sound but at least some visual and phonetic variation. If the K is important to you, you could always do an alternate spelling like [name_f]Kallie[/name_f] or [name_f]Kali[/name_f].
I agree with previous posters, if you pronounce [name_m]Kian[/name_m] with a long E sound (kee-an), the combo isn’t bad. If you pronounce it with a long I sound like the word eye, then they are too close for my taste. I don’t agree that using two K names will automatically mean you have to use a third or more if you have more children, though. Two is a coincidence. Three becomes a pattern.
Thanks all! We pronounce [name_m]Kian[/name_m] (kee-an) and hers would be pronounced (ky-ah). My eldest son’s name starts with a Z so we don’t have the whole family with K names, it would only be these two. Looove the name [name_f]Naia[/name_f] too, but too close to our niece’s name ([name_f]Nyla[/name_f]). Naming babies is tough!
I personally find them a bit too close, both in sound and appearance, but if it’s the only name you can agree on, well, that’s that. What is your oldest son’s name, if you don’t mind saying? It might help if you’re looking for suggestions.
I love the name [name_f]Calla[/name_f], and it’s pretty close to [name_f]Kaia[/name_f], and avoids the spelling similarity.
I think that it’s ok! I know siblings [name_m]Angelo[/name_m] & [name_f]Angela[/name_f], and the third sibling is something like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. It’s fine. We all overthink sibling names! You already have a Z- name as well, so that evens it out.
I like some of the other suggestions of [name_f]Caia[/name_f], [name_f]Calla[/name_f], [name_f]Callie[/name_f], [name_f]Kallie[/name_f], [name_f]Kali[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f] or [name_f]Kyra[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Calla[/name_f]!
Although I would find it too close myself, I think you should just go with what you like. They do sound different, so it wouldn’t be too bad. If [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] really is all you both love, than it would work.
Personally though, I’d likely be more prone to going with [name_f]Naia[/name_f] (which you say you also love) and have the similarity be with her cousin, rather than her sibling.
Other ideas: You could potentially spell it [name_f]Caia[/name_f], to move away from that repeated K initial, or there’s the similar [name_f]Gaia[/name_f], [name_f]Maia[/name_f] or [name_f]Amaia[/name_f] that may be of interest. Or perhaps using another name as a ‘fuller’ name might work to make them more separate and her own, like say…[name_f]Kalliope[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]’ or Kasimira ‘[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]’ (just a more creative idea I thought I’d throw out there)?
