[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone, I am expecting a little girl and can not seem to find a name that my husband and I both are completely smitten with. I have a son, [name_m]Pierson[/name_m], and I want the name to go along with that.
We are pretty much set on her middle name being [name_u]Grey[/name_u], and we have a few first names that we like, but i would love to hear everyones opinions and suggestions. (open to other middle names, but we just really like [name_u]Grey[/name_u])
Also what do you think of [name_u]Grey[/name_u] as a first name for a girl/ what could be a feminine middle name that would go? Or possibly just going by grey as a nickname??
We like classic names, nothing too crazy, but something with a little bit of edge, or uniqueness.
So far some names we like are:
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] (nick name ander or anders?)
[name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
I wouldn’t use [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. Sounds too masculine for a girl. I like [name_u]Grey[/name_u] as a middle as long as its paired with a feminine first.
My fav is [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
Second [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
Third [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
Other suggestions
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_u]Andrea[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] - instead of [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] and you could still call her anders
I think [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is a super cute middle for a girl. I agree with the person above that it would be best matched with a more feminine first. I don’t think I’d ever use it as a first, although [name_u]Grey[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Grace[/name_f] could work really well. Anyway, here are a few suggestions:
I actually plan on using [name_u]Grey[/name_u] as the middle name for my second child. My grandparents lived on [name_u]Grey[/name_u] [name_m]Street[/name_m] and had since my mom was born, my grandmother had lived there since SHE was born. I have such wonderful, beautiful memories of that house and of my grandparents, so I knew it was important to honor them in that way.
First, I’ll give my thoughts on your list:
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]–I don’t mind this. It’s very cute and I think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] go together.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]–I absolutely adore this. This is actually on my longer list.
[name_m]Anderson[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] (nick name ander or anders?)–Bleh. I hate this so much. Firstly, it’s not a feminine name at all, it isn’t that cute or endearing, and I think it clashes too much with [name_m]Pierson[/name_m]. [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] and [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] sounds like a law firm.
[name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]–Yikes, I really don’t like this name. I find [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] a little trendy and not all that cute.
I’ll give you my list now. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to rip it apart if needed
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]/[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
Other names on my list that I personally wouldn’t go for:
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
Thank you all so much for the suggestions! I completely see where you are all coming from with [name_m]Anderson[/name_m], I don’t know what I was thinking! Definitely too masculine.
I also LOVED some of your suggestions, so far our new Top 5 is:
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] ([name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name)
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] (thoughts on [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]?)
Maybe I should just have 5 little girls so I can use all of them
Thoughts on [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]? Which name would you say sounds best with [name_m]Pierson[/name_m]? Also, our last name is McCartney if that makes a difference.
Well, seeing at your last name is McCartney, I’d probably rule out [name_f]Stella[/name_f]…unless you don’t mind that?
My faves are still:
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
My first instinct is to go with [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] because this is actually one of the combos I’ve been smitten with for a while. But I still think you can’t go wrong with [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. I’m not such a fan of [name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is a gorgeous name, and it works with [name_u]Grey[/name_u], but I couldn’t name a baby [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] with such a heavy association with [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. And the fact that I’ve had to read that play four times from about middle school into grad school, I know that it could possibly be very awkward to be named [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]/ette. Also, I think [name_f]Julia[/name_f]/[name_f]Julia[/name_f]/[name_u]Jules[/name_u] is so popular, that it kind of drags [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] down a bit.
My daughter’s name is [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u], so I may be a little biased. But we always get compliments on both her first and middle names.
I do like the sound of [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] and [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] (maybe short for [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]) [name_u]Grey[/name_u].
I think [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]/[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] sounds pretty cute with [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] too.
My favourite is [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] (it’s elegant and cute at the same time! :)) You can’t go wrong with any though, you have a lovely list.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] your son’s name [name_m]Pierson[/name_m]! I really like [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] for you and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] sounds lovely with your last name. I would keep [name_u]Grey[/name_u] as the mn and choose something more feminine for a first. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is very nice too.
I really like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. I wouldn’t go with [name_m]Anderson[/name_m], it is way too masculine for a middle name [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. I know a little girl named [name_u]Gray[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], which I think is beautiful, and I think [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]/[name_u]Grey[/name_u] would work as well.
I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] best from your list. From some of the other suggestions, I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] are lovely, too.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]: This is very pretty but I would avoid because of [name_f]Stella[/name_f] McCartney. She’s really well known and also has a line of clothing.
What about [name_f]Estella[/name_f]? It’s the name of the romantic character from Great Expectations and [name_f]Essie[/name_f] makes for an adorable, unexpected nickname. Plus there are thousands of little Stellas… [name_f]Estella[/name_f] or [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Essie[/name_f] feels like a fresher choice. The baby Swedish princess is called [name_f]Estelle[/name_f].
[name_f]Estella[/name_f] & [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] I like quite a bit. Seems very English in a lovely storybook sort of way.
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]: It’s okay, it doesn’t do much for me… it’s pretty trendy right now and I’m not really into alliteration (MM- [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] McCartney) and it makes me think of marshmallows?
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]: This is lovely, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] & [name_m]Pierson[/name_m]!
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] (thoughts on [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]?): I love [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], I think it’s gorgeous and the [name_m]French[/name_m] spelling is beautiful. [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] & [name_m]Pierson[/name_m] is great!
Side note: It wasn’t on your list, but just in case–I might avoid [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] (a lovely name) as there’s an adult film actress called [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
I second @larkspur83 - [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t use [name_f]Stella[/name_f] if your last name is McCartney. That stuck out to me right away. I do like the sound of [name_f]Estella[/name_f]/[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] instead. [name_f]Essie[/name_f] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is cute
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u].
I think [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is a beautiful name, both in the first or middle spot. Actually [name_u]Grey[/name_u] and it’s variant [name_m]Greyson[/name_m] were on my short list.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] sounds very English rose, like a storybook character. I love it!
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] is out because of your last name…
No to [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] or [name_u]Paisley[/name_u].
You might like:
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Amity[/name_f]
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]
Pemma
[name_f]Marcella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] ([name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is a name from a book, I like the sound of it)
I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] the most - beautiful. Have you thought about [name_u]Piper[/name_u], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] or [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]? Or more feminine surnames (to match the sound of your son’s name) are [name_u]Sloane[/name_u], [name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_u]Addison[/name_u], etc.
