[name_u]Baby[/name_u] will be born on [name_u]Jan[/name_u] 24th, and I am still stressing over her name.
We have a shortlist of three, but I have problems with each:
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] (too boring?)
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] (our last name sounds better paired with two or three syllable names)
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] (too popular?)
Please suggest some names. We already have a daughter named [name_f]Alice[/name_f].
Things I like/don’t like:
I don’t like names that could be surnames e.g. [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_u]Madison[/name_u], McKenzie
Nothing beginning with H as our last name does and it sounds cheesy
I like nature/flower names but nothing too out there
Must be easy to spell and pronounce in English
Maybe you could use a variation of [name_f]Rose[/name_f], such as [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], etc. You could also use [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Lily[/name_f], but still use [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as a nickname. And [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (I pronounce it as Emma-leen, though I think most say Emma-line) could be an alternative to [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
I don’t think [name_f]Emily[/name_f] to boring, however you could use [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would make an adorable sibset! However as it has been suggested you could use:
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] (this is probably my favourite with [name_f]Alice[/name_f])
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f]
If you like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] I think go for it but I would use a longer name and then [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as the nickname. I don’t think it would matter as much as too how popular [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is then because it’s just her nickname. Longer forms of [name_f]Lily[/name_f]:
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilliana[/name_f]
I second the [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] suggestion. It’s a subtle nature name and I think it sounds great with a sibling named [name_f]Alice[/name_f].
A few more suggestions:
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
I’ll add some ideas for a sister to [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. Favorites are bolded. Best of luck! [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] (longer than [name_f]Rose[/name_f], still has [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] as nickname)
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (a little more than [name_f]Emily[/name_f])
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] (meaning flower)
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] (a type of flower)
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] but it’s actually more popular than [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I do think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] are pretty popular. I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] a lot! From other posters I like [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. Good luck!
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] (but popular)
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Briony[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Cicely[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]

January
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_u]Julianne[/name_u]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] together.
Personally, I wouldn’t worry too much about the syllable count between first and last names, but I think [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] would be a great way to get you an extra syllable if you want it, while still keeping the simplicity of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (which is part of its charm, in my opinion). Also has the wonderful [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_m]Parks[/name_m] as a namesake!
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] are both lovely, too.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are lovely together. I also love the suggestion of [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. I also like the idea of using an alternative version of [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I especially like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Lillia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] goes well with [name_f]Lilian[/name_f] or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]…a little more exciting than [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Emily[/name_f].
Other suggestions include:
