Baby is one week old - not sure about name!

I thought maybe Jane was in honour of someone ^^
Keep Jane.
I would say keep Winter as well, but it is a bit much with your surname. I always imagine having two middle names for my own children, but a double-barelled surname is out of the question for me, so I haven’t been faced with the problem just yet.

For an objective way of looking at it:
Is your surname 2+2 syllables or 3+1/1+3 ?
Octavia is better if it’s 2+2, because that way it won’t be 2+2+2, but 3+2+2 which sounds less like a list.
With 3+1/1+3, Winter sounds better, giving 2+1+3/2+3+1.

octavia winter jane _ is just going to be way too much imo. i would really try to decide between the 2. you’ve been living with your sweetie for a week now. does she seem like an octavia or a winter? what comes more naturally to you when you talk to her/about her? both are lovely. i considered winter myself, especially for a winter born baby girl. thats all the significance it needs to have, aside from your love for the name. it doesn’t mean she’ll have to live her whole life in winter. we lose those associations with people’s names once we know them. i would just base your decision on gut feeling and phonetics alone.
congrats and good luck!

I would go with [name]Winter[/name] [name]Octavia[/name]. I also like the spelling [name]Wynter[/name].
what about [name]Tavia[/name]? That is pretty too.

I personally love [name]Winter[/name] more than [name]Octavia[/name]. [name]Winter[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is really pretty! Would you be more sad about dropping [name]Winter[/name] or [name]Octavia[/name] if you had to drop one?

I wouldn’t worry about the two middle names. [name]How[/name] often is it going to come up anyway? Most people refer to themselves by the first name and last name only. If you really like [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Winter[/name] [name]Jane[/name], then use all three names. I think it sounds very pretty.

I would go with [name]Winter[/name] as the first name. For some reason I get a vibe that you are leaning towards [name]Winter[/name] but having a hard time letting go of [name]Octavia[/name]. If so, go with your gut! As far as whether to use 2 middle names if you stick with [name]Octavia[/name], I would use them all if you like…my husband has a double barrelled last name and 4 middle names and it is not a problem!

For what it’s worth, my daughter’s full name is eleven syllables (including a hyphenated last name, though only one middle: 3 + 4 + 2-2) and as far as I can see, it’s worked out fine. I think [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Winter[/name] [name]Jane[/name] -_ sounds pretty.

[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Winter[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is beautiful, and she won’t have to say her entire name very often, anyway. But you could go with [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Jane[/name], and call her [name]Winter[/name] as a pet name.

I think [name]Octavia[/name] is more sophisticated than [name]Winter[/name], frankly, and she’ll have more history and role models to look up to if she’s named [name]Octavia[/name]!

I’d just do [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] Last-Name.
You can still call her [name]Winter[/name] when you like, it can be her special nickname.

What did you decide? I really don’t think anything here was a bad consideration. : D. I don’t think [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Winter[/name] [name]Jane[/name] Last-Name is too much in the end, both [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Winter[/name] and [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] are great, [name]Winter[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is solid, [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] nn [name]Winter[/name] makes sense too. [name]Hope[/name] you found the solution that felt right!

I think you should give yourself the freedom to use all three names if you want to. My last name is also four syllables, and when we were discussing names for our daughter I thought I had to keep the first and middle names short to make up for it, but DH convinced me that it wasn’t a big deal, having a long name isn’t wrong and most of the time it doesn’t even matter. I’m really glad we used the names we did because those are the names we loved and they have special meaning for us–just like it seems both [name]Winter[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] do for you. Yes, once in a while people will hear my daughter’s name and say something like, “that’s a mouthful!” but it doesn’t matter to me because I love her name so much. Also, a short nickname helps.

Congratz.

I think that’s lovely, match with the winter born baby. [name]Octavia[/name] is cool, but I have a lot of girlfriends with that name and all of them was born in [name]October[/name].

A name doesn’t just have to have importance to someone! I think [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Winter[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is gorgeous  She’ll rarely be called by all four of her names anyway, so I don’t think it matters that it’s a bit long

Oh I like [name]Winter[/name] but I just love [name]Octavia[/name]! It’s beautiful and sophisticated with cute nn [name]Tavia[/name]. I would keep [name]Winter[/name] as a family nickname, [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is just so so beautiful. Good luck either way

I love [name]Winter[/name] but it is indeed very long with your full name. [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] flows well on its own!

I prefer [name]Winter[/name] to [name]Octavia[/name], so [name]Winter[/name] [name]Jane[/name] or [name]Winter[/name] [name]Octavia[/name] get my vote.
but I also don’t think the whole 2 middle names thing is too much. My DD has 2 middle names and a double barrelled surname, 11 syllables in all. Never been a hassle and few know she has a 2nd middle name.
