Our baby boy, [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Miles[/name_m], was born on 4/15/26! He joins one older brother, [name_m]Greyson[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m].
[name_m]Greyson[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] has a very direct honor name (for his dad, [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] Paul), but this time we took a much more loosely-inspired approach. We made lists of names of people we love and want to honor (of both genders), and tried to find names that “fit” with them in terms of sound or spelling. Ultimately, some names that led us to [name_m]Julian[/name_m] were Joseph/Jo/Joanne and [name_f]Liana[/name_f] (me), while names that led us to [name_m]Miles[/name_m] included Marie/Martha and [name_m]Charles[/name_m].
While we wanted some sort of family ties, it was important to us that the names we chose were also real names that we loved in their own right. I think [name_m]Julian[/name_m] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m] (currently #30 and #37) are both very popular for good reason! They wear well on both babies and adults, and I think they strike the perfect balance between strong and soft.
Finally, despite being a name nerd, I’m not usually huge on name meanings, especially because I know the etymology can be tricky to track and a lot of “meanings” aren’t really accurate. However, one way that the meaning of [name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Miles[/name_m] can be interpreted would be “youthful soldier,” and I found that very meaningful during his birth and (thankfully brief) NICU stay!
