I’m creating a baby name book. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you don’t mind participating in a little market research.

I wanted to know what if you’ve read [name_f]Baby[/name_f] Name Book what were things you enjoyed? What were things you were looking for? What would be helpful in a baby name book? [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to add whatever you’d like.
As a name nerd, I like it when a baby name book contains rare names I haven’t encountered elsewhere before. I prefer books that present information (origin, meaning, history, etc.) in a neutral, orderly style.
Popping in to add a simple thought [name_f][/name_f]— I’d love a baby name book to have nickname ideas! That’s often what I find myself looking for. Stretchy or not.
Definitely adding to what @Johannaa[name_f][/name_f] said, there’s so much information available online now that I think a good name book has to have more information about rarer names or very in depth research about more common names presented in an interesting way. It’s pretty niche but one very good example is [name_m]Irish[/name_m] Names by Donnchadh Ó Corráin and Fidelma [name_m]Maguire[/name_m].
I own one baby book [name_f][/name_f]- The Australia 2023 baby name ideas book [name_f][/name_f]- link if you’re curious [name_f][/name_f]and one unique thing about it that I think is quite cool is that it tells you some famous associations with the names in it [name_f][/name_f]- some good some bad [name_f][/name_f]- which is very useful if you’re trying to avoid anything unsavoury. Also it has a whole chapter at the start on the ethics of using family names and how to do it appropriately, or picking an honour name that is similar to that of a family member. Great chapter!
Please add clear pronunciation to the names too. Many books just don’t do this. Not all names sound like they look, and others are completely confusing! For a baby name book, make it interesting! It’s origins, meaning, history and famous bearers all make for very interesting reading. [name_m]Just[/name_m] don’t forget the pronunciation. It’s so vital!
