Baby Name Dealbreakers

deal. it’s definitely very matchy but i don’t think it’s too[name_f][/name_f] obnoxious (i think it’s kind of cute that they’re inverses of each other), and the nicknames have very different sounds.

[name_f]Winslet[/name_f], but everyone will associate it with the actress?

[name_f]Deal[/name_f], famous people’s last names as first names has become relatively trendy, and good nickname potential.

[name_m]Christian[/name_m], but the other parent is Jewish?

I’d say no deal if they practice the religion (and therefore your child might practice the religion too), but deal if they’re culturally Jewish but not religious (all predicated on the idea that the partner is on board, because I firmly believe names are a “two yes” situation!)

Rocky for a girl, but your sister insists that it’s too masculine and people will only think of the boxing movies?

Is it short for [name_f]Rochelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]? If not, no deal.

[name_f]Araminta[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f], but your best friend is a writer and gives you a manuscript wherein it’s the name of the villainess?

[name_f]Deal[/name_f]. I’d ask them to change the villain’s name.

[name_f]Emmalyn[/name_f], but [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f] are popular girls’ names?

[name_f]Deal[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- if that’s the only reason holding us back then they’re probably why we like [name_f]Emmalyn[/name_f] in the first place

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Alice[/name_f] but it was the name of your partner’s best friend when they were 5?

[name_f]Deal[/name_f], I think that’s cute and not too big of a connection as to make it unusable!!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Hal[/name_m], but that’s the name of your parents’ close friend who you don’t really know?

Not a dealbreaker, unless I’d be interacting with them or they’ve got bad vibes.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Violet[/name_f], but now people are going overboard with buying violet-themed and violet-colored products.

[name_f]Deal[/name_f], I don’t think it will affect her life when she is a bit older.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f], but your best friend confesses it was the name of her childhood bully?

Tricky one but deal [name_f][/name_f]- I’d tell my friend in advance to adjust to the idea, but ultimately it’s not her child to name (and my hope is that my baby would become a new, positive association with the name).

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Tempest[/name_f] but your sister keeps joking about your child being a ‘pest’?
