Baby name Larissa? what do you think?

Hello everyone! [name]Happy[/name] Thanksgiving!! i just wanted your opinion on the baby girl name [name]Larissa[/name], i fell in love with that name ever since watching Dr. [name]Zhivago[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you like the western spelling of [name]Larissa[/name] or the more european [name]Larisa[/name]?
thank you for your feedback in advance!

and also what sibling names would sound good with [name]Larissa[/name]? (larisa)

oo, I like [name]Larissa[/name]. I’ve never really thought about it before, but its really pretty. It is close to a few names that I would considered dated, yet it seems fresh ([name]Melissa[/name], [name]Alyssa[/name]…).

It could really sound good with many different types of names, but I’ll suggest a few

Sisters for [name]Larissa[/name]:
[name]Sabrina[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Cecelia[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]

Brothers:
[name]Victor[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name]

[name]Larissa[/name] (I like this spelling) is a pretty name and fairly uncommon. I’ve never met anyone with that name.

[name]Liam[/name]
[name]Loren[/name]
[name]Zane[/name]
[name]Maxwell[/name]

[name]Veronica[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name]

I went to high school with a [name]Larissa[/name] and she’s the only one I knew. I agree, it follows that -issa pattern that was popular in the 1980s but didn’t peak as much as some others so it’s definitely fresher. I prefer [name]Larissa[/name] for ease of spelling and pronunciation. [name]Larisa[/name] is fine but I see it and think it really needs to be La [name]REES[/name] a in prn and I doubt that’s what you want - even if it is, it’s still confusing as some people will think Lareesa hearing that.

With a [name]Larissa[/name] I can imagine some other slavic but accessible names like [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Nadia[/name], [name]Vera[/name]…and plenty of others…and a wide range of boys names too.

All best!

I’m not a huge fan of [name]Larissa[/name], sorry. It seems like it’s just mimicking other popular -issa/-yssa names ([name]Marissa[/name], [name]Melissa[/name], [name]Alyssa[/name], [name]Clarissa[/name], etc.). I do like [name]Larisa[/name] more, though. [name]Do[/name] you say [name]Larisa[/name] differently from [name]Larissa[/name]? I’m just asking because to me, [name]Marissa[/name] is mah-RISS-ah and [name]Marisa[/name] is mah-[name]REE[/name]-sah. I like [name]Marisa[/name] much more than [name]Marissa[/name], and I like lah-[name]REE[/name]-sah more than lah-RISS-ah… Either way, it feels a bit dated to me. I would pair it with names like [name]Ashley[/name], [name]Megan[/name], [name]Rachel[/name], [name]Amanda[/name], [name]Nicholas[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Matthew[/name], [name]Michael[/name], etc.

Good luck!

I like this sound very much!!! This is one of the few names that have entered to the list “names approved by my husband”. He likes how [name]Larissa[/name] sounds :), and he dislikes almost every name I mention to him. He says [name]Larissa[/name] sounds pretty feminine and, he thinks that written with double S looks better in paper. This list has also [name]Alyssa[/name], [name]Clarissa[/name], [name]Marissa[/name] (but we couldn’t use [name]Marissa[/name] because it is nn for a beloved aunt). He told me that it is more important for him that we use a name that has a good sound/aesthetic over everything else, it doesn’t matter if it’s old-fashioned, or new, just avoiding super-trendy names. Maybe if I told you names he has approved also, could help in making a sibset, order doesn’t mean preference. These are names we both would like to use for our children:
[name]Rebecca[/name] nn [name]Becky[/name]
[name]Layla[/name], [name]Laila[/name]
[name]Nidia[/name], [name]Nadia[/name], [name]Dania[/name], [name]Lia[/name]
[name]Sarai[/name] – this is spelling from both Italian and Spanish Bible, [name]Sara[/name] [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Stephanie[/name], [name]Estefania[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Adela[/name], [name]Adele[/name]
[name]Alyssa[/name], [name]Larissa[/name], [name]Marissa[/name], [name]Clarissa[/name], [name]Chiara[/name], [name]Chloe[/name], [name]Emma[/name], [name]Ammy[/name], [name]Amaia[/name]
[name]Iryna[/name], [name]Ivanna[/name], [name]Annabella[/name]- my husband LOVES it, and this is in risk of leaving this list because of popularity of –bella names, but he is really pushing in having his [name]Annabella[/name] for first baby girl. We haven’t know any baby [name]Annabella[/name] yet, so this may get a chance.
[name]Antonella[/name]
[name]Paulina[/name], [name]Paolina[/name]

For boys
[name]Francisco[/name], [name]Francesco[/name], [name]Filiberto[/name]
[name]Cristiano[/name], [name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Piero[/name] –he loves it so deeply, but it’s already used in his family, [name]Leonardo[/name] nn [name]Leo[/name]
[name]Marco[/name], [name]Marcos[/name]
[name]Mateo[/name], [name]Matteo[/name]
[name]Italo[/name]
[name]Enrico[/name]
[name]Bautista[/name], [name]Angelo[/name], [name]Amadeo[/name], Vangelis, Evangelos, [name]Salvatore[/name] nn Totto after Nuovo Cinema Paradisso movie, [name]Giuseppe[/name] after [name]Giuseppe[/name] Garibaldi

If I use [name]Larissa[/name], I would use names as feminine as [name]Larissa[/name] is for a sibset, and super masculine names for boys. That will be my path =D

I like [name]Larissa[/name]. Since the name has never been very popular (except maybe in [name]Russia[/name]), I don’t find it dated like the similar [name]Melissa[/name] and [name]Alyssa[/name]. It’s pretty, feminine with an exotic European flair. Here are some suggestions for siblings.
