This is just from a quick browse - I’ll definitely be pouring over the lists some more in the coming months. Are there any names you particularly like? Anything fun catch your eye in the full lists / complied report?
Oh this is really interesting! I like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] as a gender neutral name. [name_m]Struan[/name_m] intrigues me too. I like [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f], [name_f]Merryn[/name_f], [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f], [name_f]Aquamarine[/name_f] (a GP of mine as it’s my birthstone!), [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] & [name_f]Silvia[/name_f], [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m], [name_m]Anton[/name_m], [name_m]Ivar[/name_m], [name_m]Olivier[/name_m], [name_m]Oswin[/name_m], [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] & [name_u]Montgomery[/name_u]. I’ll look through all the data later…!
Me neither! I stumbled across them by accident (I like to check if there are any interesting hyphenated names) - I wonder if it’s a coincidence that there were multiple last year, or if it’s a small local trend, especially for boys.
@Luminen So great, thanks for sharing! I love the Scottish name data so much, it’s way more interesting than the E+W one. Mainly because we get to see all the totally unique/only used once names
This also means we get to see all the double barrelled names that were only used once too, which leads to some really interesting combos! A lot of common double barrels across the UK in general are Something-May, Something-Jay, Something-Lee etc so it’s really fun to see all different names being used too. Here are some unusual combinations I picked out from the [name_u]Scotland[/name_u] data:
Ooh how intriguing!! I’m surprised to see [name_f]Lara[/name_f] and [name_m]Struan[/name_m] climbing!! Romi-Bluebell is kinda cute and it’s nice to see [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] and [name_f]Merryn[/name_f] in use- [name_u]Idris[/name_u], [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m], [name_m]Ivar[/name_m], [name_m]Orson[/name_m], [name_u]Sylvester[/name_u] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] too
I agree completely, the unique double-barrelled names are the best part - thank you for finding and sharing all of these! I find Amelia-Jupiter and Ember-Willow quite cool, and Milly-Sunday so sweet. I have to admit I am also intrigued by Elektra-Christine. Alexander-Jericho, while long, seems actually pretty approachable with the AJ nickname, and Justice-Quentin has a nice ring to it. Karl-Magnus is very Scandinavian royalty and sounds like it could be Norway’s answer to Wallace-Robert.
Princess-Victoria reminded me that I spotted a Prince-Junior on the boys’ list! I wonder if that’s in honour of the singer or a parent. Bowe-Duke sounds like it could be music inspired too.
