Baby names on Reddit...

This Reddit thread is titled “What baby name makes you want to punch the parent in the face.”< What baby name makes you want to punch the parent in the face? : AskReddit >

It’s a long thread, and I’m mostly scanning, but one of the names getting the most hatred (currently with 2375 upvotes)? Can you guess? [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f]!

Another Redditor! I’m always pleasantly surprised by the name threads on Reddit.

Yes, I’m not surprised. I’ve been cautioning parents for ages that [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f] is often voted THE most hated name in every poll I’ve encountered. If the SSA stats are any indication, a lot of parents aren’t aware of the polls or don’t care. What astounds me is that someone will say I named my daughter [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] because it was “unique”. Ummm…what can I say?

I always point them to the SSA stats.

Redditors are smart in their dislike for certain names.

I’ve seen people call very common names ‘unique’, too, A LOT. [name_f]One[/name_f] of my new teachers this year has three sons, the youngest (age 2) named [name_m]Kaden[/name_m], since it was an 'underused K-name). I just smiled and thought, Well, at least it’s not Kdyn.

A lot of my friends are in love with the name [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f]. No wonder the name is associated with teen moms- and, get this, most of them can’t believe how popular it is. I honestly just don’t get it. If you like the sound, [name_f]Neva[/name_f] or Naviah are much prettier and ACTUAL names.

The pronunciation makes no sense, either.

[name_m]Aren[/name_m]'t there about three pronunciations for [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f]? Well, since it’s a modern invention I guess you can choose how to pronounce it too!
