I am due any day with my third child/first daughter, and we still aren’t 100% set on a name. Our sons are [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] & [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. [name_m]Milo[/name_m] is technically [name_m]Miles[/name_m], but he is very into the nn [name_m]Milo[/name_m]
Our last name is [name_u]Green[/name_u], which complicates things for me, as I’ve always loved the name [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].
Our top contender right now is [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. [name_m]Little[/name_m] brothers are pretty hooked on it actually, and I do love that it’s more fresh sounding than [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], almost like a fresher, less common [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. DH likes [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] (or [name_f]Mae[/name_f])
Also have been thrown out there: [name_f]Emma[/name_f] (so common but I love) [name_u]Josie[/name_u], [name_u]Noah[/name_u] (I like it for a girl, husband does not)
What do you ladies think of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] with our sibset? Any middle name suggestions? Any other ideas that jump out to pair with brothers’ names?
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] would fit fine with your boys, although it strikes me as a different style than [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m]. ([name_m]Just[/name_m] an observation, since I personally don’t care much about matching styles.)
I usually prefer [name_f]Mae[/name_f], but since [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] also ends in e I think [name_f]May[/name_f] would be nicer.
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] would be a fantastic combo, I agree it’s a shame about her popularity, but still beautiful.
[name_f]Noa[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] would also be nice-I prefer this spelling for a girl.
[name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is another idea, I think [name_u]Josie[/name_u], [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m] sound really spunky together!
I love [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] with [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m].
I immediately thought of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] with [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] and [name_m]Milo[/name_m].
Other names that may fit with your boys:
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Asha[/name_f]
[name_f]Eira[/name_f]
[name_f]Acadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_f]Zora[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_u]Navy[/name_u]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
Thanks for the input! We are staying away from “color names” such as [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_u]Navy[/name_u], [name_u]Cyan[/name_u] & [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]… Due to our last name of [name_u]Green[/name_u].
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is so pretty, but [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_u]Green[/name_u] sounds like a shade of paint to me having a last name that’s also a color is tough!
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is a gorgeous name, it’s very pretty and has the lovely meaning ‘from the forest’ it’s delightful. But if [name_m]Milo[/name_m] & [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] aren’t sure and that’s a major deal breaker maybe try looking at names similar to [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
Suggestions:
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] would be a good alternative to [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] they have a similar sound and also [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] has the pretty meaning ‘radiant, shining one’ also I think [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] sounds fresh.
But if you feel you may know better then [name_m]Milo[/name_m] & [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is defiantly a great choice here are some middle names…
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_m]Beach[/name_m]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] is another lovely name but I think she stylistically feels to classic for brothers [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] & [name_m]Milo[/name_m] which feel quirky. [name_u]Josie[/name_u] I think is more of a nickname than a name in it’s own right. Regarding [name_u]Noah[/name_u] spelt [name_f]Noa[/name_f] it’s a legitimate girl’s name and is very popular in [name_m]Israel[/name_m] so [name_f]Noa[/name_f] could defiantly work. I don’t know whether she’d work teamed with [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] & [name_m]Milo[/name_m] feels like it’d be a brother name.
I like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] for you. I don’t care for [name_u]Noah[/name_u] on a girl but the pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Noa[/name_f] would work and I also like the similar in sound, [name_f]Nova[/name_f].
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Green[/name_u] is lovely!
I also don’t care for [name_u]Noah[/name_u] on a girl. I like the pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Nova[/name_f] - you could also use [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] or [name_f]Norah[/name_f], both of which match nicely with [name_u]Green[/name_u] and have similar sounds to [name_u]Noah[/name_u]).
Lets start out with the names of her brothers [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] & [name_m]Miles[/name_m] “[name_m]Milo[/name_m]” [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
Both first names come across to me as less common and spunky.
Both middle names are more common and traditional
So for me that sorts the names you have said you liked, names others have suggested, and some I think could work into two categories, Spunky and Traditional (My personal preference on where these go)
Spunky:
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
Traditonal:
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_u]Josie[/name_u]
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
From that list we are eliminating [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] because of the last names, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] because it has the same first letter as [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] because both of you don’t like it, but I’m going to throw “[name_f]Noa[/name_f]” back in as others have suggested.
So now we have:
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Noa[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] would be great! I drawback for me is that when you call their names or introduce them it would be, “[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] and [name_m]Miles[/name_m].” Out loud, I’m hearing [name_f]Suri[/name_f] [name_f]Cruise[/name_f].
My favourite is [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]… then they all have that soft “z” sound in their names.
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] doesn’t go very well with [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] or [name_m]Milo[/name_m]. It’s a very soft name with a gentle character, but it can also be austere. I know a couple Emmas who don’t seem to suit their name, and my opinion is that for all it’s popularity it can be hard to wear.
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] (I think this has the worldliness of [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] and the friendliness of [name_m]Milo[/name_m])
[name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] (I like how this shares the soft “z” sound with [name_m]Miles[/name_m] and [name_u]Cruz[/name_u])
[name_f]India[/name_f]/[name_f]Indie[/name_f]/[name_f]Indira[/name_f]
[name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f]
[name_u]Darby[/name_u]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
Ha- my first thought before reading the post was [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. That’d be worse than [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is perfect: [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], and [name_u]Cruz[/name_u]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is very nice. On my list:
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] - this one would sound really good with last name.
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
You could prob get away with [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]?
Thank you!! I love hearing your opinions!
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is now on the table as well, and I am pretty in love with it.
If she ends up being a [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], I’m very happy to be receiving such positive feedback.
