We are deciding between [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Belle[/name] [name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] [name]Sophie[/name]. My concern about [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] [name]Sophie[/name] is the initials ARS. When you sound out the letters does it make you think of when people say ASS by saying ‘ARS’ in order to not actually say ASS? Feeling very nervous that it might sound that way. A little nervous that people would think that and we would have to avoid monogramming, etc. Am I too picky?
I don’t think it is a problem, personally. If I say it as a word, I sound it out as more of a “z” sounds. ARZ. Like cars. As long as your last name doesn’t begin with E, I think you’re good.
I don’'t think people are going to think of that when they see her initials. I think that you can find something wrong with most sets of initials. For example, your other name [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Belle[/name] [name]Sophie[/name] is ABS or Anti-lock Brake system. Is [name]Sophie[/name] your last name? If not, She will have another letter at the end which will really make it a non-issue. I would definitely stay away from initials that spell words like ASS or COW but I don’t think that ARS will be thought of negativiely. [name]Both[/name] names are beautiful!!!
I think ABS or ARS are both perfectly fine. I agree with the above comment that I would pronounce it more like arz than arse anyway…and even “arse” isn’t so bad. It’s a little funny but not offensive. I wouldn’t overthink it. Go with what you love The name I have chosen for our next baby if its a girl has the initials GAW which is fine, but I have this fear of her marrying someone with a G or S last name and becoming GAG or GAS. Now THAT is overthinking it! haha
Oh and I’ve noticed a lot of monograms put the last name initial in the middle (larger font) with the first and middle initial on either side (smaller). I received a monogrammed tote bag as a bridesmaid gift and that’s how it was set up. So if her initials were ARS and you wanted something monogrammed, if that bothered you, you could choose that option.
[name]Sophie[/name] is not our last name, although that also begins with an S - which I think further complicates the initials…making [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] [name]Sophie[/name] S** ARSS. I should have stated that at the beginning. Sorry. The ABSS - anti-lock brake system does not bother me, but ARSS probably does.
You could switch [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Sophie[/name], to be [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Sophie[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]. I honestly think that it is fine, but I see your concern.
(I personally prefer [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Belle[/name] [name]Sophie[/name] anyway!)
I know an [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]! I think it is lovely. Personally i would leave off [name]Sophie[/name]. [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] or [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Belle[/name] is more unique, less common. I think [name]Sophie[/name] is overused.
