Banks as a girls name

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone, I’m expecting my baby girl in a matter of weeks now… me and my husband have come to love the name [name_u]Banks[/name_u]-Myà. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted everyone opinion her name would be doubled barrelld. We love names that are so unusual. Would love to hear your feed back. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you think it would age? School?
Thanks x

[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] to Nameberry!

[name_u]Banks[/name_u] is okay but I fear that it will not age well. I also think it would work much better if it wasn’t a double barrel. I feel like the double barrel makes it unnecessarily complicated.

Would you consider [name_u]Banks[/name_u] [name_f]Mya[/name_f]?

[name_m]Just[/name_m] curious, how do you pronounce Myà?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] it would be maya

I actually l like the name [name_u]Banks[/name_u] but I think it would be better by itself rather than as a double barraled name.

Thanks! I’ve never seen that spelling before! [name_u]Banks[/name_u] isn’t feminine enough for me personally, and I can’t picture it on a grown woman, especially in a professional setting.
[name_f]Mya[/name_f] [name_u]Banks[/name_u] would be cute! I would definitely keep [name_u]Banks[/name_u] in a middle spot.

[name_f]My[/name_f] only association is [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] [name_u]Duff[/name_u], who named her daughter [name_u]Banks[/name_u]. It isn’t my favorite name, but I think it works! I’m also not a huge fan of double barreled names. I much prefer [name_u]Banks[/name_u] [name_f]Mya[/name_f]! (or [name_f]Mya[/name_f] [name_u]Banks[/name_u], if that’s an option!)

We where actually thinking about using Myà [name_u]Banks[/name_u] but we just love the name [name_u]Banks[/name_u] as that’s the name we’ve been set on. :grinning:

That makes sense! You could also name her [name_f]Mya[/name_f] [name_u]Banks[/name_u], with [name_u]Banks[/name_u] as a nickname. I know a lot of people who use their middle name more than their first. But you should use whichever name you love most! :slightly_smiling_face:

I think [name_f]Mya[/name_f] [name_u]Banks[/name_u] would be adorable. [name_u]Banks[/name_u] is cute, but I think it would be really hard to deal with at school and later in her professional life.

[name_u]Banks[/name_u] is not my favorite option for a girl, but I’m getting used to the name thanks to [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] [name_u]Duff[/name_u]’s adorable daughter. I think it would be a fantastic middle name though, speacilly if it is a family name. I would opt to spell Myà - [name_f]Mya[/name_f] or [name_f]Maya[/name_f] (the most simple and intuitive spellings).
[name_f]Mya[/name_f]/[name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_u]Banks[/name_u] would be a lovely and elegant name! If you’re not into [name_f]Mya[/name_f]/[name_f]Maya[/name_f] as a first name, then I think that [name_u]Banks[/name_u] [name_f]Mya[/name_f]/[name_f]Maya[/name_f] (with no hyphen) would also be a nice choice.

[name_u]Banks[/name_u] isn’t quite feminine enough for my taste, and I do have trouble picturing it on an adult. But that’s mainly a matter of my personal preference, whereas this choice is purely a matter of yours! If you love the name [name_u]Banks[/name_u] and choose to give it to your daughter, it will grow with her, as names always do.

If it’s something you’d consider, I agree with previous commenters that [name_f]Mya[/name_f] [name_u]Banks[/name_u] would be an awesome name. Such a great balance of a more traditional name with something spunky, strong, and unexpected. You could totally use [name_u]Banks[/name_u] as a nickname in that case.

I usually like gender-neutral names, but [name_u]Banks[/name_u] just has a very cold and mercenary feel to it. Could you use it as a middle instead?

I know a grown woman whose name is [name_u]Banks[/name_u] and I think it’s lovely. I personally do not love double/barreled names, but I think the combination is beautiful if you’d want to keep them as first/middle.

Howdy,
Naming our kids my husband and I had some of the same questions as far as school and how would the name age. We have 3 kids and due in a matter of days. We love unique names and spellings. I think this name is lovely but I think it may be easier for her if it isn’t double barreled. Our kids names are [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Ryder[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m], Renlee [name_u]Raye[/name_u] and the new baby is [name_m]Ronin[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m]. A lot of the times for the girls we’ll cal them by their first and middle name so it’s all just personal preference.
