I grew up with a [name]Barrett[/name] the name is nms and unfortunately he was a really self entitled and rude but going on sound alone it has a nice strong masculine vibe which is something I like in a name.
I like [name]Barrett[/name]. I know a little girl name [name]Barrett[/name] but also went to school with boy named [name]Barrett[/name]. Plus, you get the cute nn [name]Bear[/name]. which I love and would consider [name]Barrett[/name] if I didn’t know a girl [name]Barrett[/name] right now. I say go for it, it is a good, strong name.
I really like it. I think it sounds strong and has a nice modern sound along with meaning and a ‘real name’ feel.
The only reason it’s not on my boy name list is that it could sound like “Bare - it” which is a problem with a last name that’s pretty close to a slang term for the male anatomy. That’s likely not a common problem though, so I think it’s totally usable and would love to meet a little [name]Barrett[/name]!
Makes me think of the poet [name]Barrett[/name]-Browning, but I don’t dislike it.
Though I loathe the nn [name]Barry[/name].
My nephews name is [name]Barrett[/name]!!! [name]Love[/name] it! [name]Baby[/name] bear we call him (:
Normally I am not a hater of names, But I do not like this name at all. My first thought was “why would someone name their son after a female hair accessory?” I figured out it’s pronounced bear-it for a name, but still.
Thanks for all the feedback! It’s good (and fun!) to hear what others think about names!
Any one else?
Also, does this name go with my favorite girl names [name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Polly[/name], ?? nn [name]Meg[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name]?
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Barrett[/name] - I know a two year old named [name]Barrett[/name] and the name suits him well.
I think it definitely goes with [name]Penelope[/name]. Not so sure about [name]Caroline[/name], that’s pretty classic for a unique one like [name]Barrett[/name].
one of my brother’s friends is named [name]Barrett[/name] and he’s SUCH a nice guy! i like the sound if it too. [name]Kinda[/name] like [name]Bear[/name] but less “out there”
I don’t really like it, it reminds me of cars and the [name]Barrett[/name] [name]Jackson[/name] Auction that goes around the United States. But we all have different tastes in names.
I like it. It’s easy to pronounce and feels very masculine to me. We considered it, but other names have risen to the top for us. My only concern was that people would probably misspell it at times and it kind of makes me think of a baron - not bad, just not what we’re going for.
I used to babysit the cutest towheaded boy named [name]Barrett[/name] (with brothers [name]Baker[/name] and [name]Porter[/name]), so I think it’s great. [name]Love[/name] the nn [name]Bear[/name] (would never dream of [name]Barry[/name]). I don’t hear “bare it” when I say it out loud (at least, it isn’t so distinct), and I don’t get barrette from it either. I like it.
I dislike [name]Barrett[/name] for the same reason that I dislike [name]Baker[/name] and [name]Porter[/name], actually. They’re surnames, and I think they sound odd as first names. (Especially [name]Baker[/name] and [name]Porter[/name] together - they sound like job descriptions!)
