Bastion?

This is our second and we are just weeks away from our due date and really can’t decide. Our first is named [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and our last name is a mouthful (starts with K and is a non-ski Polish name). We would like to be a bit more creative this time but not pair [name_u]Michael[/name_u] with something like [name_m]Thor[/name_m]. I’ve been very much attracted to old names that are either something some old viking/irish king or 18th century english poet would have, many of which were nixed by DH. I know two very different ideas. Right now I would guess that our lead name is [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. My husband is pushing a little for Bastion (and has been since our first). I’m okay with it, I guess. Our short list also includes [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], [name_m]Langston[/name_m], [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_m]Titus[/name_m], [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] and [name_u]Baldwin[/name_u]. Thoughts? Suggestions? We are getting a bit desperate.

I guess you’ve already thought of [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] nn Bastion? That way, you’d get a traditional name which pairs perfectly with [name_u]Michael[/name_u], while also getting the more “adventurous” name you like.

I really like [name_m]Titus[/name_m] and [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], but [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and [name_m]Titus[/name_m] or [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] strike me as odd pairings. By all means go for it if you love the names, but there is a clear mismatch there for me.

I think any of the others would be fine - [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] would probably be my top pick from your list, or maybe [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] nn [name_m]Xander[/name_m] for the same traditional/adventurous balance.

I agree with lengthening it to [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] possibly. I do like [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] on its own but not Bastion.

If you go with [name_m]Bastian[/name_m], I prefer [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] as a full name. Of all the names you mentioned, I think [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] goes best with [name_u]Michael[/name_u]. [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] and [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] could also work.

[name_m]Titus[/name_m] and [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] are so different that it almost seems like there are different expectations. In a similar vein to naming one child [name_m]Butch[/name_m] and the other [name_m]John[/name_m].
