Bautista?

What does everyone think of ‘[name_f]Bautista[/name_f]’ for a little girl? For some reason I really like it. Thought it was a nice nod to Italian heritage on dad’s side. Are their any issues or negative perceptions of this name that I’m not aware of? Never heard it used except as a surname.

I’m not sure how to pronounce [name_f]Bautista[/name_f] and I find it a bit confusing. I’m familiar with [name_f]Baptista[/name_f], but not [name_f]Bautista[/name_f]. Personally I think there are much nicer Italian names out there, but there’s nothing particularly wrong with [name_f]Bautista[/name_f].

I too think there are so many nicer Italian names to choose from.

Not sure where you’re located, but Canadians might think of the infamous Toronto [name_u]Blue[/name_u] Jays baseball player whose last name is [name_f]Bautista[/name_f] (and as an American baseball fan, he’s my first association).

It has a lot of spunk, but like the previous posters, I would prefer other Italian names.

Yeah that’s the thing, I have a lot of names picked out that I’m confident people will think are pretty. I wanted to ask about this one because I’m not sure. Most Italian girls names are very flowery and feminine, which is fine, but also makes them seem very…I dunno…90’s, or just boring.
I’m more attracted to the spunk factor in [name_f]Bautista[/name_f], it has the same kind of appeal that [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] would have as a name. My concern is that most people will just think it sounds ugly and the child would rarely get a positive reaction.

I think of Barista. I’m sorry, but I’m not a fan.

There are SO many beautiful Italian baby girl names out there that are not 90ish or boring.

I completely understand what you mean about a lot of Italian names seeming too flowery, though I also like so many of them…

I’ve only heard of [name_f]Bautista[/name_f] as a last name, so I guess I would assume it was a family name being used as a first name. I don’t think it’s an unattractive name, but the overtly religious meaning doesn’t appeal to me. Kind of like naming a kid “Preacher.”

I immediately think of the WWE wrestler with the same name. Doesn’t sound pretty at all to my ears.

I’m not really a fan…

I just think of [name_m]Sergeant[/name_m] [name_f]Batista[/name_f] from [name_u]Dexter[/name_u].

My reaction was 100% “you must really like baseball”. I find it really hard to see [name_f]Bautista[/name_f] as anything other than [name_m]Jose[/name_m] [name_f]Bautista[/name_f]
