I love the name [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] - it’s so cute plus reminds me of an old friend - but it’s very common. I’m wondering if [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] would be a better alternative, but I’m not very familiar with it or it’s popularity. It kind of reminds me of [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] & [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] combined. What do you think and which do you prefer?
[name_f]Baylor[/name_f] kind of reminds me of bailiff. Dunno why. I’m not a huge fan of [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] either, but I like it more than [name_f]Baylor[/name_f]. What about [name_u]Saylor[/name_u]? I kind of like it.
I had never heard of it until this season of Survivor. There’s a female contestant named [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] who is about 24. I think of “bail out of jail.” I prefer [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] as I’m not a fan of [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] either.
[name_f]Baylor[/name_f] University is all I think of. And I think that they are prominent enough in collegiate level sports that lots of people would make a similar connection- in the US anyways.
And I think despite it being a different name, people will still have that mid 90s association like they do with [name_u]Taylor[/name_u].
[name_f]Baylor[/name_f] was a little girl on Toddlers & Tiaras once (if I remember correctly), and I liked the name’s sound but I hate names that end in an r. It means “horse trainer” and it’s an English name, so I think it’s usable but I don’t know what to think about the “horse trainer” meaning.
I don’t consider it a mash-up of [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] and [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], either. It seems like a name in its own right.
Same - I think of the [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] Bears
Honestly, I think it’s pretty awesome. My husband’s middle name is [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] and I’ve always wondered if I could get away with using [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] as a way to honor him. (His first name is [name_m]Ben[/name_m], bonus!) I think [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] fits right in with other name trends too; names ending in “R”, occupational names, etc.
Also, I consider the name unisex & think the nickname Bay for a little girl is super sweet.
Whenever I see [name_f]Baylor[/name_f], I think of [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] University (The [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] Bears), but that’s because I’m a huge sports fan. There’s a girl on this season of Survivor named [name_f]Baylor[/name_f], and that’s the first time I’ve seen it used. I like how it sounds, and probably prefer it to [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] to be honest, but to me it will always be a college rather than a name.
Edited by mod. Your post was ridiculously rude and uncalled for. Everything said could have been said in a much nicer or constructive way. you can say you don’t like a name without being ugly about it. We don’t want to seeing you name calling or being so rude again. Thank you.
The post I responded to earlier has been removed so I’m editing my response. Just disregard this.
A boy I know has a similar name: Beila which may avoid some issues but with a similar/the same sound. It depends on how much you love the “or” sound I’ve always thought it would be a lovely name for a girl
All I think of is [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] University so I would find it a very odd name for baby.
Ugh. I don’t like [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] or [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], so naturally I don’t like [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] either. To be fair I used to know this little twerp named [name_f]Baylor[/name_f], which I’m sure has something to do with it. It just sounds annoying to me.
I dislike the Survivor contestant so it’s a negative association for me. I am aware of [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] U but have no feelings about the school one way or another. I guess it’s a pretty name. I like the nn [name_u]Bay[/name_u]…
The only time I’ve heard [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] as a name was [name_f]Siddalee[/name_f]'s brother in the [name_f]Divine[/name_f] Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood books, so it feels like a boys name to me. It’s an okay name, but it definitely gives me a Toddlers and Tiaras vibe, you know, precious little princess, fingers sticky with candy, stamping her foot with temper.
I think it’s funny that [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] and [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] are both occupational names ([name_u]Taylor[/name_u] means, well, “tailor,” and [name_f]Baylor[/name_f] means “horse trainer”).
I don’t necessarily dislike Taylor or Baylor (and I quite like the similar Sailor), but I think I prefer just Bay on its own (I’m a sucker for nature/earthy names like Bay).
@melodicnostalgia [name_u]Saylor[/name_u]. omg. that’s so cute.
@dearestjules [name_u]Sailor[/name_u]'s cute & [name_u]Bay[/name_u] reminds me of 1 of the main characters from an ABC Family show called Switched at Birth. Idk if you’re familiar with it, but I used to watch it all the time.
Toddlers and Tiaras? LOL I watched a couple episodes of that on Netflix once. It was scary.
