Beach

What do you think about the name [name_m]Beach[/name_m] for a baby? I feel it becoming a new guilty pleasure for me. What gender do you prefer it on? I like it better on females.

[name_m]The[/name_m] beach is a nice thing to think about, so that’s why I think it could be a good name. However I don’t love the way it sounds, because it’s slightly rough and similar to a cuss word. Do you think this ruins it? If so, what other beach related names would you suggest?

this sounds a bit too much like the similar curse word for me

i adore [name_f]Sea[/name_f], [name_m]Ocean[/name_m], and [name_m]Bay[/name_m], though :ocean:

Yeah, I agree with @/emeraldsea, a little too close to the unsavory word for comfort.

I love [name_m]Sandy[/name_m] as a gender neutral name!! [name_m]Other[/name_m] fun beach ideas:
[name_f]Coral[/name_f]
[name_m]Ocean[/name_m]
[name_f]Azure[/name_f]
[name_m]Harbor[/name_m]
[name_f]Waverly[/name_f]
[name_f]Rivulet[/name_f] (not really beachy, but water-y and one of my favs!!)

I completely agree with you. It’s a lovely visual, but the closeness to a misogynistic slur ruins it for me (especially because beach is a common replacement word for that word).

Potential similar names:

[name_f]Wave[/name_f] (possibly a nickname for [name_f]Waverly[/name_f])

[name_f]Sea[/name_f] (Seaglass, Seabeeze, Sealion)

[name_m]Ocean[/name_m]

[name_m]Shore[/name_m]

[name_m]Quay[/name_m]

[name_m]Bay[/name_m]

Pass. This is like the word you use when you want to swear but shouldn’t. Literally grew up with one of my parents saying “Life’s a beach and then you…”

I think [name_f]Wave[/name_f] may be a new favorite!

Yep. [name_m]The[/name_m] same reason I found a problem with [name_f]Fig[/name_f]

Also voting hard pass. Maybe try the name of one of your favorite beaches or names that have water related meanings.

I can see the appeal of [name_m]Beach[/name_m] as a guilty pleasure, the imagery is really calm and positive, and it’s easy to associate with something peaceful and happy. That said, I’m not sure I love it as a given name. It feels quite literal as a word, and a bit abrupt in sound for my taste, and a tad too similar to the swear word.

If you like the seaside theme, I think names like [name_f]Marina[/name_f], [name_m]Cove[/name_m], [name_f]Coral[/name_f], [name_m]Ocean[/name_m], [name_m]Sandy[/name_m], or [name_m]Bay[/name_m] feel a bit more wearable while still giving that coastal feel. I’d probably lean more towards those.
