I’ve always wanted to know this:
A common nickname for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is “[name_f]Bea[/name_f]”. But how is that pronounced?
“[name_f]Bee[/name_f]”
“[name_u]Bay[/name_u]”
“[name_f]Bee[/name_f]-ah”
“[name_u]Bay[/name_u]-ah”
Thanks!

In English, it’s simply [name_f]Bee[/name_f] I believe, but in [name_m]German[/name_m] it’s pronounced [name_f]BEE[/name_f]-[name_m]Ah[/name_m]. I watched a show a little while ago where a girl’s name was [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and everyone called her [name_u]Bird[/name_u]!
I pronounce it [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-ah
Other nicknames:
[name_f]Bee[/name_f]
[name_u]Bay[/name_u]
Bex
[name_u]Tris[/name_u]
I pronounced it [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-ah. I think its very sweet.
In Australia it’s “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]”. Perhaps consider [name_f]Trixie[/name_f]?
[name_f]Bee[/name_f]. Like Aunt [name_f]Bea[/name_f] from the [name_u]Andy[/name_u] [name_m]Griffith[/name_m] show. I also like [name_u]Tris[/name_u] as a nn for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], from the Divergent series
I pronounce it [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-ah, but in the [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] [name_m]Quimby[/name_m] series, her aunt [name_f]Bea[/name_f]'s name is actually pronounced as [name_f]Bee[/name_f]. [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]'s sister is a [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] that goes by Beezus.
I guess I’m the only one who pronounces it [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-uh! though, I do have a [name_m]French[/name_m] grandmother so that might have something to do with it. I honestly don’t see the point of pouncing it as [name_f]Bee[/name_f] and having an A at the end. But it all goes back to how you pronounce [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and there are a few ways! [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-a-trice, [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-uh-trice, [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-trice, etc.
I say it as “bee”. The -a at the end of it always confuses me though!
“[name_f]Bee[/name_f]” like [name_f]Bea[/name_f] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m].
I pronounce it [name_f]Bee[/name_f]. My great-grandma went by [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and her given name was [name_f]Bertha[/name_f] (which she hated). I want to use [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Bea[/name_f] to honor her.
I would pronounce it “bee”
I pronounce it [name_f]Bee[/name_f].
In [name_m]German[/name_m] would be BEH-ah (or [name_u]BAY[/name_u]-ah.) I think in this case it can also be short for [name_f]Beata[/name_f] (beh-[name_m]AH[/name_m]-tah or bay-[name_m]AH[/name_m]-tah)
[name_f]Bess[/name_f]
[name_f]Bessie[/name_f]
[name_f]Bibi[/name_f]
[name_f]Trish[/name_f]
[name_f]Betty[/name_f]
[name_f]BEE[/name_f]…that is for me, anyway. I think some others might pronounce it [name_f]BEE[/name_f]-ah, but I’m not sure. My friend’s nn is [name_f]Bea[/name_f], pronounced [name_f]BEE[/name_f].
I know a [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Bea[/name_f], pronounced [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-uh…that always made more sense to me since that’s how it’s pronounced as part of the whole name.
