I always bounce back and forth from which I like more.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] vs [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], I voted [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] because it’s easier to say.
“beer-treece” VS “beah-tricks”
I only know old ladies called [name_f]Bea[/name_f].
A young woman, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], was called [name_f]Trix[/name_f] as an adult, [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] as a child.
I prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] of the two (see signature, haha) although I honestly love both. I like the fact that [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] sort of livens up the set with [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], though. I think it’s certainly formal enough for an adult woman to wear - the [name_f]Queen[/name_f] of the Netherlands has done just fine with it for eighty years now.
I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. It’s definitely buttoned up enough for an adult woman but at the same time, I feel it has a more modern feel and works for either a child or an adult today.
I go back and forth too but I think I prefer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] with your other girls. [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Bea[/name_f] are basically my dream sibset!
In general [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is my favorite, but with [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] I would lean toward [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].
Whilst I like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], and think she might fit better with [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] will always be my favourite. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] feels more vintage in a Victorian way (if that makes sense). More quiet and reserved, a little floral almost. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] also feels vintage, but in a 50s/60s film star way, very glamorous and stylish, full of energy and light. It can depend on the person or situation, but [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] personally appeals more to me and has better associations (plus a nn I love). I definitely think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] can work on an adult, albeit with a more bright and bubbly personality, but I’m a big believer in names growing to fit people (not vice versa).
I love the association of [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], the writer of [name_m]Peter[/name_m] Rabbit and many other lovely animal stories. However, I really don’t like [name_f]Trix[/name_f] or [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] as a nickname because it makes me think of someone airheady or someone found at a gentleman’s club.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] I feel fits with your sibset better, but both work and whichever you like better is more important.
