I would pronounce it bee-tee and yes, I would use it as a nn for Beateice/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].

I would pronounce it like the name [name_f]Betty[/name_f] myself, personally I don’t like it, but if you like it that’s up to you. If it’s going to be said like ‘bee-tee’ or ‘bee’ah-tee’ (if that makes sense) it could get some confusion.

I’ve personally never heard of the name before so it doesn’t bring ‘boy’ to mind for me. I think ‘bay-tee’ or ‘bee’ah-tee’ would both work as pronunciations.

I’m really on the fence. I don’t hate it, but I’m not sure if I like it either…
I would definitely pronounce it [name_f]Bee[/name_f]-tee, and I think it would probably work better as a nickname for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] rather than as a standalone name.

It just sounds weird to me. First off, I think it’d take some getting used to (even for a confirmed name nerd who wouldnt bat an eyelash at [name_f]Nerissa[/name_f] or [name_f]Sidonie[/name_f]!), and it’s so similar to [name_f]Betty[/name_f] that it’s almost not worth trying, imo. I also think [name_f]Betty[/name_f] is infinitely nicer!

Mind you, I don’t really think of Beatty as a name either on the boys’ or girls’ front, so that probably influences my opinion.

Beattie is an old nickname for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], so I think this one works fine on a girl, though I much prefer it as a nickname.

Funnily enough, I’ve been watching the new BBC “Poldark” recently and there is an actress in that called [name_f]Beatie[/name_f]; I’ve clocked her name in the credits as it’s so unusual. Google tells me she’s a [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] in full.

I kind of like it

I know two different people with Beatty as a last name, so it seems a bit more like a boy name to me. It would be a nice nn for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], but not on its own.

At first glance I thought it said [name_f]Betty[/name_f], and I think she’d be confused for [name_f]Betty[/name_f] her whole life. I’d also pronounce it bee-tee. I’m not a fan, sorry.
