I am obsessed with the nickname [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. Dad is [name_m]French[/name_m] and kids will be going to an all [name_m]French[/name_m] school. So far we have a [name_m]Théodore[/name_m] nn [name_m]Teddy[/name_m] and a [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mara[/name_f]. We are not finding out baby 3’s gender so need name options for both but what do you think of this for a girl:
I really like that. I also think you could get away with any [name_f]Lou[/name_f] name - [name_f]Lucie[/name_f], [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] - and then call her [name_f]Luna[/name_f], without having a hyphen name. If you like the hyphen name then go for it, but if you are only doing it to justify the nickname [name_f]Luna[/name_f], I don’t think you have to. I don’t think you even have to have a middle name that starts with the letter N if you don’t want to. [name_m]Just[/name_m] have the [name_f]Lou[/name_f] sound in the first name is enough to get [name_f]Luna[/name_f] imho.
Thank you! [name_m]The[/name_m] problem is I don’t love a lot of the names starting with lu/lou. I hadn’t really considered [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] though….
From this set I truly love Nérine. I especially love names with ocean meanings.
Lucie-Nérine is gorgeous! And the nn [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is so fun for it. [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] doesn’t do much for me, and Lucie-Nérine is new to me, but I’m already a big fan!
Lucie-Nerine is so pretty and unexpected! I guess I’d just consider whether you’d mind her going by [name_f]Lucie[/name_f] – or another nickname like [name_f]Lou[/name_f] or [name_f]Cece[/name_f] instead – just as a test to see if you do love this name or just like it as a route to [name_f]Luna[/name_f].
Would the [name_m]French[/name_m] [name_f]Louna[/name_f] work if you decided against a hyphenated choice? Maybe the extra letter makes it ‘fit’ alongside the sibs in terms of length?
Considering a more bilingual version Lucie-Marina that works a bit better in [name_m]English[/name_m] and still works in [name_m]French[/name_m].
I also love the meaning light of the sea. I do like the name [name_f]Lucie[/name_f] but want a nickname of [name_f]Luna[/name_f], something longer, and with an ocean related meaning. I definitely expect her to grow up and go by [name_f]Lucie[/name_f] or something else other than [name_f]Luna[/name_f] but I love the nn luna for a baby girl / as long as she’ll let me call her that. I also don’t want to use just the name [name_f]Luna[/name_f] or [name_f]Louna[/name_f] because I want something she can grow up into.
So, I am mainly looking for names that can have the nickname [name_f]Luna[/name_f] but I’m okay with her going by [name_f]Lucie[/name_f] and expect to happen eventually.
