Bella, Stella or Ella?

Which one would you pick and why?

They give me different images, even though they sound similar.

What are your images and associations?

I love [name_f]Stella[/name_f]! Definitely my favorite. It feels vintage while also being modern! [name_f]Ella[/name_f] lacks substance to me. [name_f]Bella[/name_f] I’m kind of in the middle about, I prefer [name_f]Belle[/name_f]!

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] is the sweetest to me! I’m drawn to her soft pinks and cozy imagery while still being an extremely versatile, familiar name. All the options are lovely, though! [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is a little offbeat and vintage while [name_f]Bella[/name_f] feels very y2k and maybe a bit sporty.

[name_f]My[/name_f] true favorite would be [name_f]Nella[/name_f], which is one of my most favorite names. Funny how different such similar sounding names can feel to a person!

[name_f]Bella[/name_f] has always felt heavy and clumsy to me.
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] makes me think of stars, and a Streetcar Named [name_u]Desire[/name_u].
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] feels jazzy and fairy-like.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Ella[/name_f].

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite here is [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. Vibrant, Old Hollywood, diva, full of elegance.

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] (if it was usable for me)

I love the starry, bright feel, but the way it also sounds simple and grounded too

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] would be my next pick - familiar and solid, with a sweet, bright meaning.

[name_f]Bella[/name_f] is sort of cosy too

Ella is my favourite :woman_fairy:t2:

Ella is sweet, bright and feminine. I associate Ella with fairies and nymphs which makes her feel magical with a whimsy flair. However I also think Ella has this down town jazz player vibe I can envision Ella wearing a sparkly jumpsuit with big curly Afro hair and dark skin playing the saxophone on stage. I think either imagery that is conjured up depends on the name Ella is paired with. My daughter’s name Lilia Elizabeth Ella feels more fairylike but I think if Ella was paired with Violet, Tamsin or Avalon she’d be more jazzy. Ella is beautiful.

My second favourite is Bella which feels warm, cosy and relaxed. For me Bella has a European coastal holiday destination feel. I also think Bella paired with something like Evangeline could feel Christmassy.

Stella is my least favourite but still a lovely option. Stella feels fashionable, she has that ā€˜it’ girl feel she’s moody, cool, wears Doc Martins and black clothes with star earrings. I don’t think I’m cool enough to pull of Stella.

I really like [name_f]Ella[/name_f]! I think it’s very classic and beautiful. Has some slight variation for nickname potential but works great on it’s own too.

[name_f]Bella[/name_f] feels very overdone to me at this point. It also feels more like a nickname for [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] than a stand alone name to me.

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] there was some movie where they yelled STELLLLLLLAAAAAAAA I can’t remember the name of it but I always yell [name_f]Stella[/name_f] in my head like that when I see it. So you may get some people saying the same thing with that name.

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] is my favorite!! It’s sweet and sparkly for a baby girl then wearable and romantically dreamy for a grown up. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!! :two_hearts:

[name_f]Stella[/name_f]! I love her celestial feel and how she treads the familiar vintage yet modern and uncommon line.

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] is a close second, a lot more common at least in the UK, but pretty, bordering on classic with a bit of a [name_u]Southern[/name_u] US, prairie feel.

Not a fan of [name_f]Bella[/name_f] at all. I can’t shake the ā€˜beautiful’ meaning which I find princessy and hard to live up to.

bella is arguably my favorite, because she’s so nostalgic for me, but i prefer the sound of ella and the vibe of stella

ella is my ultimate favorite :milky_way::bouquet::ribbon::kiss:

I adore the name [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. It’s so fairytale and dreamlike. I could not care less if it is common. It is beautiful.

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] is a beautiful name, energectic, warm and colorful with a wonderful meaning. International and familiar but not extremely popular. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite from your list! I love the connection to the sky, universe and stars :star2:

[name_f]Bella[/name_f] is sweet, romantic and delicate. It has a lovely meaning too, but I prefer it as a nickname. I adore the name [name_f]Bella[/name_f], but I speak a latin language, which means that I see [name_f]Bella[/name_f] more as a word than I see it as a girl’s name. It’s the equivalent to use [name_f]Beautiful[/name_f] as a first name in a [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking country. It’s a wonderful yet brave choice from my point of view, depending where you live and what’s your ancestry.

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] sounds adorable but incomplete at the same time. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] works as a nickname for so many other names that it always lacks something to me. It’s meaning and origin are uncertain. For example, [name_f]Ella[/name_f] in Spanish means ā€œSheā€, which is a quite impersonal meaning.

Depends on if it’s a full name or just a nn for me, I think. If a nn, [name_f]Bella[/name_f] for sure, I’m a huge fan of [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] and if I ever used it, she would probably be [name_f]Bella[/name_f] for short. I do love [name_f]Ella[/name_f], though; would either do [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as a standalone or as a nn for [name_f]Helena[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] I’ve never been fond of, I want to because of the tie to stars and I love astronomy… but [name_f]Stella[/name_f] just doesn’t do anything for me, sorry.

[name_f]Bella[/name_f] - Frilly, ballerina, soft

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] - soft, whimsical, fairy-like. I think of the movie ā€œElla enchantedā€. I also love [name_f]Elle[/name_f]. A very girly name. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite from the list.

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] - I know 2 Stellas and they both are artsy cool girls, rather tomboyish. I wouldn’t use it myself since I have heard it’s a very popular dog name? I do know way more dog Stellas than human Stellas

[name_f]Bella[/name_f] - a very popular nn for a super popular Isabella/ [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. But very pretty and princessy.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. She’s just so sweet and starry. I love [name_f]Bella[/name_f] too but I prefer the longer variants (Isabelle/Isabella, [name_f]Annabella[/name_f], etc). [name_f]Ella[/name_f] is pretty too, but I just prefer the other two.

[name_f]Ella[/name_f]! :studio_microphone::crescent_moon:

That’s the most classic one to me. Reminds me of [name_f]Cinderella[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m]. So vintage and very at home with modern name trends.

For my own baby, I’d choose [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (double first name) if I used one of these three.

For me it is hard to pick or decipher a difference among them only because all three happened to become exceptionally popular at the same. They are not only similar sounding, but all those I know with these names are all so similar too. Cannot go wrong with any of them
