[name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] has definitely beat out [name_m]Jack[/name_m] for me! [name_f]My[/name_f] last name we have been considering was [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]. I had originally crossed it off for feeling femenine but I keep going back to it, especially with the middle name we have chosen, which is a bit unusual but has special meaning to us.
[name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] vs [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
Juniper Sophrnoy is very pretty, but I just think that [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is better left as a girl name. Especially since it’s getting kind of popular for girls. It just has a mystical vibe that reads feminine to me. I actually know a male [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], & five years later it still seems really weird. I also know three girl Junipers. I love [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], by the way. A beautiful (yet in a masculine way) kind strong classic.
I love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] for a boy and would normally vote for it over [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], but if you’re set on the middle name Sophrony I’d probably go for the more classic first name. Sophrony is fantastic but I do think it’s generally quite unfamiliar and could read feminine to some people (due to [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], etc.) so [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] makes it more clear.
That said, [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] on a boy is super cool and not many people will know the full combo anyway, so if you’re not bothered by a bit of potential gender ambiguity on forms and documents and the like, go for it! I’d be very excited to hear of or meet a male [name_u]Juniper[/name_u].
That’s true! I hadn’t considered the middle to sound very femenine, but I suppose something a bit more commonly masculine would fit better. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_m]David[/name_m] sounds cute to my ears. That being said my kids middle names are barely ever said. I’ll have to think on it!
Juniper is such a lovely name and I think its soft, botanical sounds fit great in your sibset. However, I’m not a fan of it with the middle name Sophrony – it seems a little too much like a plant name to me.
