Bennett?

What do you think about the name [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] “[name_u]Theo[/name_u]”, [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]?
I feel it goes well with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and [name_f]Alice[/name_f], but I don’t know about [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].

I know that the other names are pretty vintage/classic, but I don’t know if [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] comes across the same way.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I think [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] is very classic, it was the last name of the family in [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] pretty vintage [name_f]IMO[/name_f]! We have it on our short list, [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] nn [name_m]Benny[/name_m]

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] is my brother’s middle name…it’s a classic British nickname for [name_m]Benedict[/name_m] and I love it. I think it goes very well with your other names since they also have a British feel.

I love [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]!! I think it works with all the other names:)

I think [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] sounds perfect with your other names.

I think [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] goes great with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]/[name_u]Theo[/name_u]. and [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are wonderful together… i think it all goes fine. [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] might not seem an obvious pair, but within the context of the whole sibset, I think they work.

It doesn’t ‘not go’, but it’s definitely not the same style. [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] is not a classic name. Yes, it’s a very old surname, but this doesn’t make it a classic given name. It’s a surname-name, which means it’s part of a fairly modern trend. I know the surname is from a medieval form of [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], but it has not been a consistently popular first name. It was rare to obsolete, and is now coming back as a surname-name.

For me it’s a completely different vibe to your other names, far more trendy. A classic would be [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], not [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]. [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] is to [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]/[name_m]Benedict[/name_m] what [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] is to [name_m]Jack[/name_m]/[name_m]John[/name_m] or [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] is to [name_m]Henry[/name_m]/[name_m]Harry[/name_m]. People like the classic nicknames but make it more modern by picking a surname alternative.

Edit: This was from a UK perspective. Looking at the data, it seems it could arguably be called a classic American name. I think surname-names have historically been more popular over there. I don’t have a great insight into that culture, but I still feel the same way about the style being way more trendy. It follows a similar popularity pattern in the US as Jackson, which has got to be one of the trendiest names out there (and if Bennett’s a classic, so is Jackson).

I really like [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]. It doesn’t have the same vibe as your other kid’s names, but that doesn’t really matter. Matching sibsets mean something to family and maybe friends, but in real life your son’s name will be judged alone.
