I saw a post on one of the other forums on here about people using surnames and for fn’s and mn’s and it got me thinking… [name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother’s maiden name was [name_m]Benson[/name_m] and she is the last of her line because she was an only child, her parents were only children and her grandparents siblings didn’t have children. On top of that my mother and uncle were adopted. So I would REALLY like to at least somehow carry on the name. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s usable?
I’m not sure if we would use it as a fn or mn but I would really like to use it should we have a boy. What fn’s would sound good with it, if I chose it as a mn? Also would would go well with it, if I use it as a fn? Surname will be Macias (mah-see-es).
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband has his grandmothers maiden name as his first and and its perfect, [name_m]Benson[/name_m] I feel would make a lovely first or middle name and could always go by [name_m]Ben[/name_m], very very usable and a lovely family story and connection for a son!
I think [name_m]Benson[/name_m] is super cool. I find myself liking more and more [name_m]Ben[/name_m] names for boys (except [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]) and I think [name_m]Benson[/name_m] would fit right in with other surnames-turned-first names but still stand out for it not being [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]. And he could go by [name_m]Ben[/name_m].
I think [name_m]Benson[/name_m] works as a first name (or middle) for sure! -son names are hot right now and [name_m]Ben[/name_m] gives it a bit of a classic feel.
As a first:
(I tend to think longer middles sound better with a “surname” sounding first)
I’ve loved [name_m]Benson[/name_m] for YEARS and I have always felt like people dismissed it. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] it is getting some love so far here
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_m]Benson[/name_m], character in [name_m]Law[/name_m] & Order: Special Victims Unit, played by actress [name_f]Mariska[/name_f] Hargitay.
Being a cop, her character on the show is called [name_m]Benson[/name_m] for her last name, but I honestly can’t see it on a girl, though maybe as a middle name. At that thought, though [name_m]Benson[/name_m] [name_f]Mariska[/name_f] sounds funny, [name_f]Mariska[/name_f] [name_m]Benson[/name_m] sounds real cute. Though I like the name [name_f]Mariska[/name_f] so I may be biased.
I do like the suggested [name_m]Benson[/name_m] [name_u]Reid[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Benson[/name_m] and [name_m]Cole[/name_m] [name_m]Benson[/name_m].
[name_m]Benson[/name_m]'s part of a long line of men on my mother’s side, and there are four generations of them. The youngest is my cousin and he goes by [name_m]Ben[/name_m]. It’s a great name!
