Bentley?

I love the name [name]Bentley[/name] … but not so much for a child. My husband and I named our oldest dog this (which I think is still pretty original). The reason I am posting was to share our reasoning in choosing the name [name]Bentley[/name]. [name]Bentley[/name] is a Cavalier [name]King[/name] [name]Charles[/name] Spaniel and was a VERY expensive little puppy. He is very regal looking, and we both thought the name [name]Bentley[/name] fit him well because of its connection to the expensive car (which we thought was somewhat funny because he is a dog). In addition, cavaliers were the choice breed for royalty in [name]England[/name], and I thought [name]Bentley[/name] sounded very British.

I agree with a previous poster [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Rose[/name] sounds lovely for a little girl. [name]Bryony[/name] has been one of my top names for a long time (after reading the book “Nine Coaches Waiting” in high school many years ago). [name]Bryony[/name] has the same feel to me … English, classic and unlike [name]Bentley[/name]; feminine. If you like, you could always spell it [name]Briony[/name].

Best of luck :o)

*I made a mistake … the book was “Touch Not the [name]Cat[/name]” … [name]Bryony[/name] was the clairvoyant main character …

Deeply dislike the name bentley on a girl And [name]Rose[/name] as a middle name is just a filler. [name]Bryony[/name] I like.

We are due with #2 in a few weeks and my husband suggested [name]Bentley[/name] [name]Jacob[/name] for a boy… However, our firstborn is [name]Beckett[/name] and they will only be 15 months apart so I think they are too similar sounding… especially if they play sports together!

But then I started considering it for a girl and it has totally grown on me!! [name]Bentley[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] is at the top of my list! If you like it, go for it. Teen Mom will not even be thought of soon (I had already forgot about it) and once the little one is named, the name is associated with the personality of the baby so it doesn’t matter if people’s first impression is the car or a neighor’s dog:)

If you really love the name, go for it! I think boyish nn for girls work (i.e. [name]Bennie[/name], [name]Frankie[/name], [name]Billie[/name])

A few caveats:

  1. The name will become dated (think [name]Tiffany[/name] and [name]Madison[/name] a la Freakonomics)
  2. [name]Bentley[/name] is a well known luxury car, and when she is of dating age, guys could use the name to make unfavorable comments
  3. I have never seen the teen mom’s show, but I know [name]Bentley[/name] is popular because of this, especially when it is plastered on magazines~

Good luck!
