Berry *fruit* names

Anyone think of names of or relating to berries? All I can think of is [name_u]Juniper[/name_u].
I’m thinking for a possible second MN for Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] -not sure yet, we might just use the one- so I can call her Moonberry (which is an inside joke my husband and I had while dating & playing through the video game Skies of [name_f]Arcadia[/name_f]). I don’t like the flow of Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] but Freyja [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] could be ok. Any other ideas though?

Jagoda (Yah-gaw-dah) means “berry” in Polish.

[name_f]Cerise[/name_f] ([name_m]French[/name_m]) and [name_f]Sakura[/name_f] (Japanese) both mean “cherry” (well, more “cherry blossom” for [name_f]Sakura[/name_f], but close enough), but cherries aren’t technically a berry…

To be honest, though, I would just stick with the lovely Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f]. You can still call her Moonberry if you want. I don’t see any reason why she needs to have a “berry” name in order to use it, and using two nature-y names in one combo is a bit much [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

(Oh, what about Ginevra? It’s not literally a berry name, but it is associated with juniper due to the da Vinci painting, Ginevra de Benci. And that reminds me of Geneva, which apparently does mean “juniper tree”.)

I decided to take a less literal direction when looking these up for you. Most of these are different types of berry plants, but still recognizable names.

[name_u]Marion[/name_u] (Marionberry) - I think Freyja [name_u]Marion[/name_u] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] might be too many M’s for you, but I thought it was worth mentioning

[name_f]Holly[/name_f] ([name_f]Holly[/name_f] berries) - I don’t know if you’re opposed to using poisonous berries or not

[name_f]Lauren[/name_f]/[name_f]Nova[/name_f]/[name_u]Taylor[/name_u]/[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] - summer-bearing red raspberry plants

[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] - fall-bearing red raspberry plant

[name_u]Sierra[/name_u]/[name_f]Brigitta[/name_f]/[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] ([name_f]Hannah[/name_f]'s choice)/[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] - blueberry plants

[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f]/[name_f]Alice[/name_f]/[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Avalon[/name_f]/[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]/[name_u]Clancy[/name_u]/[name_f]Delia[/name_f]/[name_f]Emily[/name_f]/[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Florence[/name_f]/[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]/[name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] ([name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f])/[name_f]Mira[/name_f]/[name_f]Pandora[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]/[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]/[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] - strawberry plants

I like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] or [name_f]Holly[/name_f] as a first name sounds pretty
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]

@ mega_muffin love [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]. I think Freyja [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] might be too exotic though. Thoughts??

@ bowtiful I love [name_f]Nova[/name_f], [name_f]Mira[/name_f] & [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] but am concerned [name_f]Nova[/name_f] & [name_f]Moon[/name_f] together is much too spacey and [name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] too alliterate? [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] would be cool because this year we had the mega blood moon but Freyja [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] / [name_f]Moon[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] seems pretty intense huh?

In [name_m]French[/name_m] you have:
[name_f]Cerise[/name_f] (cerise)
[name_f]Pomme[/name_f] ([name_f]Apple[/name_f])
Myrtille (Meer-tee) (Blueberry)

A flower: Pivoine (Pee-voo-ahn)

What about [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_u]June[/name_u], as in mayberry (though not an actual berry) or juneberry? And I love Freyja [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Moon[/name_f]! Freyja [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] also has a great feel, though it does sound like you’re describing a moon that’s scarlet in colour.

[name_f]Melina[/name_f] means raspberry in polish, but something along the lines of duck in another language

Well, there is always [name_f]Strawberry[/name_f].

[name_f]Beryl[/name_f]?

Me, I’m more of a citrus woman! [name_f]Citron[/name_f], [name_f]Tangerine[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_m]Lemon[/name_m]…

Amla / Amlika are a type of gooseberry.
Amora is blackberry in Portuguese.
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_u]Berry[/name_u]
[name_f]Mora[/name_f] is Spanish for blackberry
Persimmon might be a little too weird, but I like it.

Wow, lots of creative suggestions!

I think [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] is my favourite suggestion so far but what do you think of it with Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f]? Too crazy?

Freyja [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] Hn_______
or
Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] Hn________

I also found in my search a berry called [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] Saltbush [name_u]Berry[/name_u], which from its description seems like it’d taste similar to a huckleberry. But I’m thinking could [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] work as a [name_u]Berry[/name_u] name? It’d be obscure obviously, but [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] was on my MN list before and is kind of an honour name for [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] (my dad and geandfather both have [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] in their names) so it could be a cool option.

Freyja [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] Hn_________
or
Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] Hn_________

Or is Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] Hn_________ best as is?

My first thought was [name_f]Mora[/name_f] because when my husband introduced our daughter [name_f]Maura[/name_f] to one of his Spanish-speaking coworkers, he thought he said “mora” and was like “you named her blueberry?”

[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] is a nice name, but I don’t understand how it’s a “berry” name. I like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] a lot, too, but I wouldn’t pair it with [name_f]Moon[/name_f].

I think just Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] is best, and there’s no reason you can’t still nickname her “Moonberry” if you want to.

I really like Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] just the way it is.

I like Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] and Freyja [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Moon[/name_f], but I don’t think it’s necessary to use a berry name to get the nn Moonberry if there’s not a combo you love. Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] is great on it’s own or with [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]/[name_u]Ruby[/name_u].

I think [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] is just stunning together. It sounds great! If you want to add [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] into the mix, I’d do [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Moon[/name_f].

I did a search and [name_f]Mora[/name_f] means blueberry, [name_f]Malina[/name_f] means raspberry and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] means barberry tree.

For some reason is seems if you’re going to add a second middle, [name_f]Moon[/name_f] sounds best at the end, but if you’re going to just have the one middle, [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] is a really strong sounding name combo.

Well I love Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] just as it is but DH suggested throwing a berry name in so we could call her Moonberry sometimes. I agree the berry name is unnecessary, we can just call her Moonberry anyway if we want to, but I thought it was a sweet idea (I love the throwback to one of our first silly inside jokes) & thought I’d see if we could get some cool suggestions/combos out of it
Aaaand I think he might have suggested it also because he’s not 100% set on Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] on its own. He is OK with it but doesn’t seem to love it as much as I do. He also likes MNs [name_f]Nova[/name_f], Cinder, [name_u]Cedar[/name_u], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and I think is waiting for me to “chicken out” of using [name_f]Moon[/name_f]. But he wasn’t terribly excited about [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_f]Coral[/name_f] either and as long as he likes the FNs (he has been extremely stubborn on that front, of course) I’m pretty sure he has more or less given me free reign on girls’ middles at this point - aside from several that he VETO’d. Boys are another story. If I love Freyja [name_f]Moon[/name_f] for a girl he’ll be on board, I’m just still checking out our options.
